Nonsense rhymes

Our recent "Winter" poetry event revealed a rather clever poem from our forum member, Pete which was selected by our honourable judge to be awarded the grand prize. This poem "Icicles" employed an insistent and excessive repitition of rhyme which created a unique sonic effect that some compared to Ogden Nash. This has given rise to an idea for a new kind of event/competition. To submit a poem or poems driven by repetitious rhyme. To simply play with language and explore the options.
Let this thread run for two weeks till Wednesday 23rd. at midnight Forum time. A public vote can then decide which of these Rhymes is the favourite by sending votes to myself or an independant member via PM. This way people can make their own criteria for judging, eg. humour, message within the nonsense, cleverness of language, emotional impact, originality and surprise or whatever. Voting could remain open till the end of February and results posted the Wed. following close of comp.
Poems could be posted under user name or anonymously as a guest(Do not log in), such as the writer chooses.
To kickstart the event I submit this nonsense ditty.

Have fun with your keys and pens. Cheers, Witty.

Booze Booze
Booze booze
Amuse to cruise
Boozers choose
To misuse a muse
Booze booze
A cruise for schmooze.
Whose muse?
Infused with booze
Misuse abuse
Excuse the booze
Lose the blues
Booze more booze.
Enthuse abuse
Boozers who lose
Losers who booze
Choose to misuse
A ruse for a muse
Snooze on the booze.
A Witty Ditty.
Cheers, Witty.

With its preciousness, this is my favourite, so far, John. Such a true scenario whilst being with small children.
I so easily and clearly envisioned each progression.

Another nonsense rhyme
To help pass the time.
Did The Aardvark?
Did the aardvark embark
Upon old Noah's ark
When the heavens so dark
Raised the high watermark?
And the clerk did he mark
On his two by two chart?
The woodlark, meadowlark
And cousin mudlark.
The sweet singing skylark,
The noisy macaque,
The wild grubby boschvark,
The doe and the hart.
Did they park in the ark
All safe from the shark?
Till the ark it did park
On a mountainside stark.
The patriarch, matriarch
The hierarchy apart,
Did they scribe and remark
On the tale of the ark?
But I ran out of words
For the ark strewn with turds
To rhyme all the time
For line after line.
So with a sniff and a tear
I'll end it right here
And leave you to think
If the aardvark did sink?
Cheers, nitty witty.

Dear Witty Owl, Pete, LaurieAK et al,
Congratulations for all the nonsense rhymes! I'm not going to attempt one, since I am a strictly deadly serious writer

who wouldn't raise his game to such levels.
However, it just happens (oh yes folks, that's a school of philosophy) that I'm currently reading the sellected works of Spike Milligan. For correspondents outside the so-called u.k. this name may not register on the Richter scale of writing, yet he was THE greatest comic genius in a world yet to be civilized (apart from Bexhill-on-Sea).
I don't wish to hijack (sorry, Hello Jack) this thread, but please accept one of Spike's many nonsense poems, and, better still, find out about the man who made the Goons (and was the creative influence behind Monty Python) .
I Met A Greek
I met a Greek
Who wouldn't speak.
I met a Turk
Who woudn't work.
I met a Dane
Who was insane.
I met a Scot
Who just talked rot.
I met an Arab
Who gave me a scarab.
I met a Swede
Who couldn't read.
I met a German
Who gave me ein sermon.
I met an Italian
Who sold me a stallion.
I met an Eskimo
With only one toe.
I met a Moroccan
With only one sock on.
I met a Mongolian
Who knew Napoleon.
I met a Croat
Who had a sore throat.
I met a Sioux
Who was six feet tioux.
I met a Spaniard
Who sold me a lanyard.
I met a Slav
Who made me lauv.
I met a Cambodian
Who was a custodian.
I met a Majorcan
Who wouldn't stop torcan.
I met a Fijian
Who'd just done his knee in.
I met an Iraqi
Who had a bad baqui.
Now with a Swiss
I'm ending thiss.
Andrew.
