I have been visiting the Leonard Cohen files for some time now. It's a wonderful part of his story, a place full of love and attention.
I'm writing to you because I've written a song for Leonard. It will be the first single from my second album (given as a free download) and I'll release it for his 80th birthday (like many other songs and tributes I have no doubt!).
I wondered first of all what your members might think of the song.. Here it is, with the video:

I am also throwing Leonard a "birthday party" on the 22nd Sept. As well as my own performance I have special guests coming to sing his songs and read his poetry, including the amazing Barb Jungr. Here are the details, for anyone in London..

p.s. maybe you'd also like to see the single from my first album..

I suggest we take 1 LC song. Jarkko you decide which, in order to save time.
We all make a short clip with one word from that song - again Jarkko you decide. Then the song is played which each of us saying one word and a clip is made. Is there a better way to honor the Master?

Well, I like it a lot. The melody, the lyrics, the singing, the arrangement, ... the whole package.

I love the song, I love your voice, I love the sentiment, and I love the subtle undertones of the video.

Alan said already what I would have liked to say and can't express better:
"I love the song, I love your voice, I love the sentiment, and I love the subtle undertones of the video."
I'm sure Lenny will like the song, too. Thanks for sharing.
(I also like your song and video: "Everyone is going to Berlin")

Having been re-inspired by encountering Lail live a few days ago, nor surprise to find this thread!
So do we know if Lenny ever got to hear this?
Rather sad I missed out on knowing about the 80th birthday party, but then it has been 6 years since I came on here!
(still sad i never got the heavy hints to come to the fan party & meet LC in 2007, but sometimes we learn more by not getting what we want perhaps?!)
I had a wonderful interaction today with an academic I had to host through work, i had a nagging urge to name LC as we were connecting on so many levels of anthropology/philosophy/progressive mental health care etc, and of course she's a massive fan...
It was therefore a delight that while she had been doing her external examiner thing, i'd unwrapped my copy of Lail's new album, in book form, she beamed at reading the lyrics to this song, and i think will now come see LA live...
I'd not quite got it together to buy it on the weekend, so was delighted to pick it up from the Post Office today, in book form! Lail has done a high quality vinyl version and, a genius move, a lyric book with - if I'd realised I'd have snapped it up on the weekend... a
download code on the bookmark, I'd heartily recommend getting both things of beauty...
I don't think the novelty will wear off of this book release and it certainly works well for me as a beautiful alternative to a CD, so here you go....
