Open Mic - update

Hi there folks!
We are now less than four months away from our Dublin Event and what a great one it promises to be.
As far as Open Mic is concerned, we now have eight performances (7 individuals & 1 group) registered to perform at Open Mic, with an estimated time of 1.5 to 1.75 hours of performance in this regard.

There is room for more, I think, though perhaps not too much time available.
The format will be performances of up to 3 songs/pieces in a
very relaxed and
totally encouraging supportive environment! This is
not a talent competition, so there will be no judgementalism I’m sure, as is only right in this
happy and carefree context of complete acceptance.
So, don’t be shy, if you still have that nagging desire to “do your thing, express yourself, self-actualize” with your favourite Leonard songs, in public, then don’t be afraid to email me, as there is still room for possibly a few more performers.

First to do so are likely to avoid a dreaded cut-off point, as I’m assuming a timeframe may need to be imposed on these proceedings. Nevertheless, there may be a Reserve List (in case of cancellations or a "no-show" of those already registered).
If you wish to register for this, check out the requirements to do so in the other (first) Open Mic thread and email me here:
darby203@bigpond.com
Cheers,
Andrew

If anyone who performs individually at the open mic would like a second voice or guitar added, please let me know, I can try to do that.
I'll be in Dublin on wednesday evening, so we could rehearse.
Look also at the new topic of tribute concerts for the concert of my band Homeward Dove in Egmond, NL, on 29th June 2014.

Hello,
Maybe it is not too late to reply and to propose to perform 2 or 3 songs.

Hi Andrew
These are the songs I want to perform at the open mic:
The daisies in my yard (From Energy of Slaves)
Scorpion (From Energy of Slaves)
Mission (From Book of Longing)
Can't wait for the Dublin Event.

to get to my kitchen table
the poem about me
lying there with the books
in which I am listed
among the dead and future Dylans'
A favourite Henning, can't wait

Hi,
Just wondering what the venue is for the open mic?
Thanks

Hi Leinsterdub,
Sorry for the delay in replying - I'm assuming the Open Mic session will be held at the main venue, as below (excerpt from the event page in the Leonard Cohen Files website):
The venue for the 2014 Leonard Cohen Event Dublin is Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin 1. It is in the city centre on the banks of the River Liffey, 2 minutes walk from O'Connell Street, and 5 minutes walk from Grafton Street and Temple Bar.
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi there Dublin participants,
Just to let you know that the Open Mic session has now reached full capacity.
However, if you are still very keen to perform at this late stage, I can put you on a 'reserve list', which would come into effect with any cancellation by other performers.
Cheers,
Andrew

dear andrew
i'm sure that if there are any latecomers who wish to register for the open mic i'm sure nobody in the audience would object if you dragged henning off the stage to accommodate them...hopefully you will be packing your trusty australian shepherd's staff again this year which you have put to good use in past open mic sessions as these photos from the hydra and berlin events clearly demonstrate....ta ken

Hi Ken,

Yes, but I may have to purchase an Irish shepherd's staff, as I can't find that one now.
Anyway, Henning may be so hoarse from cheering on his World Cup winning team, that his recovery might not be complete and he'll have to join the audience!
Cheers,
Andrew

sorry to hear that your trusty australian shepherd's crook may not be making the trip to dublin...
but there are other methods available of clearing the stage of artists who over stay their welcome...
and if all else fails there is always the monty python option....ta ken
