'Christine Tobin is inspiring on her own material. But she is in a class of her own singing Leonard Cohen.' The Guardian
"The spring 2014 release of A Thousand Kisses Deep, Tobin’s forthcoming album of all this Cohen material, is, on the evidence of this wholly absorbing, often downright ravishing concert, something to be keenly anticipated.' Chris Parker, LondonJazz review of her Southbank Show at the London Jazz Festival

Played it through a couple of times, don't like it. One, maybe two tracks are just OK. Don't think I will be playing it much.

Yes, I agree with lightasabreeze. I downloaded without listening as I read a great review in The Guardian. I was disappointed with the opening track, Famous Blue Raincoat, which was too upbeat for me, and didn't capture the painful sentiment of the song. John Fordham in the review says Christine is ideal as a Leonard Cohen interpreter, which I would disagree with. I really enjoy good covers of LC songs. I think perhaps Jennifer Warnes set the bar high. Christine Tobin does however, have a great voice and I will certainly listen to some of her other recordings.

I like Christine Tobin a lot but don't usually enjoy her Leonard Cohen stuff as much. She is really good at latin american style jazz but I'm sure new songs will sound great live.
