Here's about 16 seconds of the audience singing 'Closing Time' with Leonard: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LMW4bslB36k and another short one of audience participation during 'Marianne': http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PaeyrP3fkA0
Sorry they're so short; I'm newly geeky.

Thank you so very much, Albert!!!
Last September you gave us a great recording of Anyhow (live in Dublin), this time we have a beautiful and enjoyable new song - again, thanks to you!
(Not to mention that LC rocks!)

Sounds like so many of his latest songs have a bluesy feel reminiscient of the 50's and I LOVE it. His voice so suits this.

What an amazing concert in Dublin last night. I usually go to Leonard Cohen concerts with friends as my wife, who I married 26 years ago, thought she did not like his music. She came with me last night as I had a spare ticket and is now, at 50 years of age, a new convert to this great artists music. We cannot wait to see him back in Dublin again in the near future.

Last night's concert was amazing as always. One of the many highlights was Sharon Robinson's performance of Alexandra Leaving. It's not often you see a backing singer (although I realise that term doesn't do her justice) get a standing ovation but she deservedly got one last night, and seemed genuinely touched by it.

Happens at every gig. And you're right - she's not a 'backing' singer, and the band are not 'backing' musicians. They are all accomplished artists in their own right that Leonard has assembled to accompany him him.fhenry99 wrote:Last night's concert was amazing as always. Yes, that is a very good way of putting it.Zimmy66 wrote:They are all accomplished artists in their own right that Leonard has assembled to accompany him him.

Thank you for that, Albert. I will play it many times to relive it and register the emotion on Leonard's face. I was there and singing at the top of my voice. I returned to Dublin after the same thing happened a year ago at Kilmainham. It was unforgettable on both occasions. The concert at The O2 on 11 September was pure unadulterated perfection. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Cheers to all the Forum friends I met.IrishAL wrote:Video;

EXCERPT -
I don’t rightly know if it’s a new one, or something from the Cohen Crypts, but the song Leonard and the band have been rehearsing made its Old Ideas debut. A call went out on the radio during the break: expect Got a Little Secret (working title?) to make an appearance after Chelsea Hotel. The heads-up stood, and the song was presented to a receptive audience. For the second night running, a surprise song-shift caused a shimmy of shame with the ‘correct’ guitar; The Night Comes On was skipped over, causing me to skip back and forth to attain correctness for The Partisan. The rest was the usual plain sailing and Mitch’s Fender Tele was handed over thusly: “Your egg whisk, my lord.”
