Just heard that Old Ideas is at number 2 in this weeks album charts!

That is such amazing news - and means all those people are enjoying this brilliant CD.

Charts are a funny thing aren't they? There's the official chart and then there's every retailer's own individual chart featuring whatever they want to plug that particular week. We went in to our local Asda superstore yesterday for the weekly shop (that's a mega sized Walmart owned store to our North American friends). I was thrilled to bits with Leonard's official chart position and was ready with my camera to mark the momentous occasion when a Leonard Cohen CD was on display in my local Asda of all places. I wasn't really expecting them to have the CD at no 2 but I didn't think they could ignore it. How wrong can you be? I was right, it wasn't number 2 but it wasn't in the top 40 either. In fact, it wasn't even in the the store. Obviously, Asda hadn't expected Old Ideas to be a commercial success so they hadn't bought any.

Number one? Oh that Lana Del Ray thing.
