So far it's beautiful. Given the over spirituality of it I'm pretty surprised Born in Chains didn't make it on this one. I think it would have fit in perfectly. This will definitely take time to sink in, so far Anyhow is my favorite track.

Love it so far. Will give it a closer listen in the morning. hopefully Born in Chains will be released on his next cd. He did say he had enough material. Maybe another cd later in the year then a tour to invigorate him?

I'm betting that it will be, just struck me as odd after hearing the other songs that are certainly prayers along the same landscape as Born in Chains, although that seems more redeeming than anything on here. It's hard for me to write up what I think of this album just yet, as 6 years of anticipation culminated in 41 minutes.

The greatest surprise so far is Leonard Cohen voice and guitar solo on a studio album since the 70's in 'Crazy to Love You'!!! AMAZING!!! :D

Extraordinary. This quite unlike any previous Leonard Cohen record. Listening to this album is like watching a Terrence Malick film; it's a lot to take in all at once. Nonetheless I can say that Old Ideas seems to be a subtle and understated masterpiece. Different Sides gave me goosebumps.

Undoubtely, my favourite one is 'Different Sides'. It's simply wonderful and amazing, especially the chorus.
'Amen' reminds me partly of 'I'm Your Man' regarding the rythm and the wind solo, and partly the gypsy violin of Raffi Hakoppian in 'Recent Songs'.

"Amen" and "Different Sides" are my favourites as well.
The only song I don't like on the new album is "Anyhow"...It somehow would have fitted better on "Dear Heather"..

I'm listening to this album so hard that it hurts :-).
The album is really good. I like the melancholy in Amen, that kinda very slowed down klezmer is really stunning!

Am listening to this now, thanks for sharing the link. Almost felt like crying when I heard Leonard on the guitar again... don't get me wrong, I really like his synth stuff too, but for me his guitar music will always touch me. And it has again

I just had my first listen to the album.

For me Amen and Show Me The Place are the standout tracks. I would have liked a few more faster tempo songs.

Overall, I'd say it's a far better album than Dear Heather, but falls short of Cohen's classic recordings.

I'll go and have another listen now... :)
