The Incredible Slowness of Being (Laurie)
Now it becomes clear. Laurie (alias critic2) sets up this contest and manipulates herself into the position of Judge. Laurie (also alias lizzytish) then rejects any half-decent poem on spurious and probably actionable grounds. Laurie (also also alias Dr Freud injects herself with a flu virus as an alibi) and lies low only to return tomorrow to announce the winner as Makera (also also also alias her).
Oh, yes. It is all clear to me now.

There were several poems that stood out above the rest for me; one in particular, for me, wherein the cream rose to the top ~ however, I sent it and all the others on to Laurie, without prejudice or comment. Though, I must say, I was sorely tempted, I maintained my position of intermediary with regard to trying to influence the Judge. If/when she requests any input from me, I'll be happy to share my perspectives. I, of course, have no idea who you are, but my strong suspicion is that a poem of yours was rejected
. For the moment, however, don't you have distraction enough with the release of "Dear Heather"? I have no idea how Laurie could begin to concentrate on all those delightful poems, since October 26th
. However, I have faith in her....and she will come through for us all.

Ah, Partisan, look at you to seize upon an opportunity, wherein you can claim having been abused
. Speaking of opportunity, I believe the term is opportunist.
Yes, Laurie ~ I can attest to your being truly ill, as you have been throughout the gathering process for the poems. Take your time and focus on your health. The poems can wait.

I personally couldn't give a damn who wins either.
Especially since I didn't enter.
Poetomachia has never been of any interest, or inspiration, to me.
However, I do know how much fun hosting a contest is. So I think Lizzy and Laurie are the ones having the most fun - and the real winners in this.
Hope you feel better soon, Laurie.... before the 'madness' starts spreading.

Oh no, Makera. I can assure you that those who wrote poems had fun doing it. It was very apparent in the outcomes. 'Fun' struggling to assess all those poems? Sounds like a tough job to me, and I'm vastly relieved that it's Laurie's and not mine! I can attest, as well, to your not having entered it. "Madness"? Are you saying that Laurie is "mad"? Nah, I can't believe that. Please rearrange that comment, somehow, so I 'get' it. Thanks!
Poetomachia?
You are being a little patronizing, aren't you? Which surprises me. I have been to the All Poetry site. And the contests there all have themes. They all have parameters. All have deadlines. If our little contest is "poetomachia" the exact same can be said of All Poetry.
I fully expect that some good poems were written here. And all those who wrote a poem (including myself) had fun trying. You sound as though you have a bad case of sour grapes.

Makera has combined poet and machia. Machia meaning war. She means it as an insult. I thought the Seedy Hotel Contest had brought us all closer together. In a weird sort of way. It seems I was wrong.
