Let us now praise famous men, and our fathers that begat us.

The Lord hath wrought great glory by them through his great power from the beginning.

Such as did bear rule in their kingdoms, men renowned for their power, giving counsel by their understanding, and declaring prophecies:

Leaders of the people by their counsels, and by their knowledge of learning meet for the people, wise and eloquent are their instructions:

Such as found out musical tunes, and recited verses in writing:

Rich men furnished with ability, living peaceably in their habitations:

All these were honoured in their generations, and were the glory of their times.

Ecclesiasticus Chapter 44

Thank you Leonard for giving counsel by your understanding, for declaring prophecies, and, most of all, for finding out musical tunes and reciting verses in writing. We honour you in your generation and thank you for being the glory of our times.

Happy Birthday Leonard,
A group of us will gather on the 21st September in Sligo
on the grounds of Lissadell to hold a little ceremony at the Canadian Maple tree,
donated by "frelander", planted by Maarten,
to commemorate your visit and the great Concerts that took place there earlier this year.
Remain a "kid with a crazy dream" - who knows, someday you might return ;-).

Happy Birthday Mr. Cohen,

Thank you for enhancing my life with your music and poetry. Here is a verse from Yeats for you on your 76th birthday.

"An aged man is but a paltry thing,
A tattered coat upon a stick, unless
Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing
For every tatter in its mortal dress"

Good advice from one great poet to another. May your soul clap its hands and louder sing for a long time to come.

Thanks again for the music and the live shows. And Happy Birthday. xxx.

Dear Leonard ~

From my heart to yours, I wish you a day of peace, love, and joy on 21 September 2010 ~ the same as I wish for you every single day of the year. May your life continue on the same trajectory of deep satisfaction and fulfillment as it has been through these years.

As I send you my wishes today, however, I also especially say "Leshana tova tekativu" ~ may you be inscribed in the Book of Life and have a good year.

With my everlasting love, respect, and gratitude for you, Leonard.

All my love,
Lizzy
