The new Leonard Cohen

I'm not sure if I'm commiting a gross breach of etiquette here, but I figure, what the hey, I'm a London based songwriter who people have compared to Leonard Cohen. I've just uploaded a couple of songs, and am looking to get a bit of feedback on them. So if anyone's around, please, give me a listen and tell me what you think :D

I could only listen to the first song, as the second link doesn't work, but I was very impressed by what I could hear. Personally, I would have said that the resemblance was closer to Bert Jansch than to Leonard Cohen. Are these your own compositions?

Thanks very much for listening and for the feedback - actually, I've never heard any Burt Jansch - a lot of people have told me I should though. I'll have to check him out asap. And yes, they're my own compositions. Not sure why the second link doesn't work, but I may as well try again...

If that doesn't work, I posted them on an Elliott Smith forum, which seems to work

Finally, apologies about the attention grabbing tag line - I am by no means worthy of comparison, it's just hard to get noticed without shouting.[/url]

Very beautiful indeed. have you recorded an album yet?

I've got enough songs for about three albums, I do have plenty of them recorded on cassettes, but I'm not very hot on production, and can get quite impatient :x , so almost all of them have little mistakes in them - which mean I don't want to put them out.
At the moment, I'm concentrating on playing live (in London), and I was thinking that at my next gig (May 19th, Hope and Anchor, Islington :D ) I might plug a minidisc recorder into the mixing desk - as I think this would be more representative and have more atmosphere than anything I could do in my bedroom. I'll keep you posted if you're interested...

Thanks very much for the positive comments, and for taking the time to hear the songs.

Hi Goblinski - If you are in London again let us know. I can't make the 19th May but I would be interested if you are playing again. Good luck on the gig 8)

Hi - I've just got another gig lined up for Tuesday 25th at Viva Viva in Hornsey... All comers welcome. Once I get a little website going, I'll post a link, so I can stop defaming dear Leonard with shameless self-promotion..!

Nice song! I'm in the US so won't be making any gigs but when you're big and stateside I'll be first in line!

I'll risk breaching the etiquette as well! In many reviews of our band Leonard's name has popped up, though I don't know why, I don't see it (and should be so gifted!).

Funny story how I came to this site. On releasing our first CD we were sending them all over the world to radio stations and somehow got Jarkko's name as a radio station. He was kind enough to listen to it and explained that he was not a radio station at all! This was in '96 so don't know if he remembers.

I've often returned here to get the latest news on SeƱor Cohen and peruse these fabulous pages and read the forums.

By the way, my vote for most underatted Leonard song: The Old Revolution. I don't believe it's even ever been covered (I will look shortly within these very pages). I've often thought about writing an analysis on this song, but alas, time is short and my thoughts are never quite coherent when I attempt it. I get snippets of insight and never write them down. Ah, to be organzied!

If anyone would like to listen to our band thanks!

My guess would be that Jarkko's being called a radio station will have stuck in his mind  Of course, I could be wrong  ~ it may not be that unusual an occurrence  . WJRKO [hey, so it takes an extra call letter]
