Knighthood for Leonard suggested on Radio 5!

Half-listening to the radio this morning, to an item about who the listeners felt should be honoured in the NY Honours List, and my ears pricked up when a guy suggested LC! Maybe the Queen will bear this in mind for next year, if Prince Charles hasn't already whispered in her ear! :D

Like a knight in some olde-fashioned book... wouldn't it be wonderful and fitting.

Forgive me: I can't resist. So, if this happens, as Leonard kneels before the Queen, "It was the shape of your ---(our) love which (is) twist-ed(/ing) me."

Or how about :-

So I knelt there at the delta,
at the alpha and the omega,
at the cradle of the river and the seas.
And like a blessing come from heaven
for something like a second
I was healed and my heart
was at ease.
O baby I waited
so long for your kiss
for something to happen,
oh something like this

I'm not sure if Knighthoods fit in with the Zen

Great idea Caz! Wonder who whispered 'Status Quo' into the Queen's ear, any ideas?

But I seem to remember that Canadian citizens are not permitted to accept foreign honours.

I don't know about Canadians not being able to accept foreign honours. Canada is part of the Commonwealth and as such citizens can receive honours from the Queen. Two members of the Commonweath (not Canadians) who spring to mind are Dame Kiri te Kanawa (New Zealand) and Sir Garfield Sobers (West Indies). Even if Canada were not part of the Commonwealth their citizens would still be able to receive honorary honours :? . In this case we have Sir Bob Geldoff and Sir Cyrus Vance as examples.

No, the restriction is purely Canadian and has nothing to do with the Commonwealth.

The issue was fully covered in this thread, from 2007/08: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8322&sid=2e8e581092 ... 8a7#p81112 .

Hi Hydriot,

Thanks for reminding us of the link for the earlier discussion. It's quite funny that in my post there (30th March 2007) I say:

"In the unlikely event that Leonard does some more concerts..."!

All tthe best, John E

Because he is Canadian? Ah.. but a line in Chelsea Hotel says 'But for me you will make an exception'

Maybe that line could apply
