The devil didn't make me open this thread. It was Joey Carenza who suggested this to me when I was carrying on about Roscoe's new sexy haircut.

So here it is everyone, a thread where we can say nice things exclusively about the sexy hunk, Roscoe The Kid Beck.

Took me awhile to find this thread, but YES, I have always had a crush on Roscoe! Loved the long hair, but have to admit this new look is awesome and so HOT! The sexy part is that tendril (er, do guys have tendrils?)...okay, skip tendril...that little clump that falls on his forehead when he's really into the music ..whew! Looking good!

Well, I don't have a photo of Roscoe. My camera is broken, so I had nothing with which to take photos. I loved his hair the way it was before, not only for the way it looked, but including the same kind of admiration I have for many men who have the courage to grow and wear their hair long. "Real men wear long hair" or something like that in that "Real men . . . " genre . I didn't notice on my own that Roscoe's hair had been cut; perhaps, because I couldn't find my glasses until after the concert was well over, albeit they had somehow climbed out of their clamped, Houdini case and were in my purse all along .

What struck me about Roscoe in the beginning, when I saw him for the first time close up, remains and has nothing to do with his hair, however; and that is the spiritual softness of his face. I've no idea what Roscoe's spiritual practices may or may not be; however, the way he so genuinely engages with each person he speaks with is a marker of higher spirituality. That higher spirituality shows in his face, in his gentle speaking voice, in his choice of words, and in the way he communicates with people. I saw it with others as I stood by waiting my turn at Red Rocks. I've read about it since with other people at other places. I was delighted to witness it myself, occurring at length with sharon.e from Tel Aviv, as they sat at the bar and talked at length and in depth; their stools positioned so that they directly faced one another. It's that kind of thing that really impresses me.

When I first met Roscoe at Red Rocks, I was struck by how much younger he looks close up than what he'd looked to me onstage. So, Leonard's now referring to him as "The Kid" sure doesn't surprize me... "The Kid" who's got his priorities straight and his long-haired, short-haired, head screwed on right. Your admiration is well placed, Arlene . I'm right there with you.

I have a really nice photo with Roscoe in Kansas City - before the haircut. I'm having some trouble attaching it though, will keep trying. Arlene introduced us and he was absolutely delightful! In retrospect, I probably wore out my welcome by chatting too long! Because of our familiarity with the forum and musicians, and the sense of family we seem to have, I tend to forget that they're not just old friends - that's what they feel like to me!

Roscoe Beck esd with Cohen already in the very early songs. I have a recording of "Memories" in which Cohen was thanking his band one by one (as usual) and amongst them was Roscoe Beck.

I have been blessed with 2 encounters with Roscoe Beck (NYC & Nashville), and I was awestruck both times by the extent and depth of his kindness, sensitivity, compassion, and respect, and it was clear that he manifested these beautiful qualities toward every single person with whom he interacted. He emanates an energy that is very gentle, very radiant, and very generous. He accomodates every person with what seems to be an "effortless grace". I see him as a very highly evolved soul.

Of course, he is also very handsome and very sexy. It is impossible to not immediately fall in love with him.

As Leonard so graciously calls us all friends, and treats everyone he meets as such, Roscoe also embodies that same principle in his encounters with others.

Seadove, you are right, Roscoe has been with Leonard since 1979 - a very long, close, and beautiful relationship.

Here's a photo that says it all of Roscoe chatting with us fans. It was late at night after a long concert, he has already signed autographs for everyone and there was nothing stopping him from taking his seat in the van and relaxing. Still, he chose to stand there for a few minutes longer, chat and answer questions with a smile on his face that says "I am truly happy to see you all here, and I am very interested in what you have to ask". What the photo cannot convey is the sincerity of that sentiment and the calm that surrounds Roscoe.

Well, I did tell him to his face that I preferred his longer hair. I know, how audacious and cheeky of me. He said it would grow back.

Of the whole troupe, 'The Kid' is the one who makes himself the most accessible - how wonderful is that?! He holds a special place in my heart in large part for that reason (and many other reasons also).

Hey Mary. I did have my Roscoe moment in Berlin last year. I look all floopy and starstruck in this but doesn't he look amazing.

Exactly, on all these. I was very struck by how unhurried and calm he was at Red Rocks. And the calm that surrounds him is truly calm. These are things I had never picked up on as he stood on stage, but were so compelling and overwhelming when you're actually in his presence.

I didn't approach him in San Jose pre- or post-show [except when I was seeking a pen from Sharon] because I'd already had my moments with him, and I wanted others to have that same chance and experience.

Sharon is also extremely warm, welcoming, and engaging in her interactions with fans. I wish she would have come out more, but there's always 2010.
