50 Great Voices: Help Us Choose
NPR Music

In January 2010, NPR will launch a year-long exploration of 50 great voices in recorded history. The series isn't an attempt to catalog the so..-called "greatest" singers. Instead, we hope to discover and re-discover awe-inspiring vocalists from around the world and across time. We asked you to nominate artists for the series and we received thousands of options. NPR and a panel of experts are in the process of whittling them down to about 100 singers — a mix of familiar names and surprising discoveries. Explore some of the nominated voices below, choose five favorites you think should be included in the final 50 and tell us why...

basecamp,

Thank you! Have just placed my vote. Alas, it didn't allow me to vote for LC 5 times. Hope all forum members get on board and place their votes.

Best regards,
Mary

I liked this. Ok then, who else did you vote for.... I voted for Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Eva Cassidy and Roy Orbison, they are all voices that sent shivers through me at one time or another.... but Leonard still does it to me.

I voted for Bob Dylan because his song Like a Rolling Stone has such resonance

Was Michael Jackson missing ... or did I just miss him? Had to settle for Elvis instead  because they wouldn't let me vote for LC five times. Thanks for the link.

Also, I just found Grooveshark. If you want to just listen to LC songs :) , here they are: http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/artist/ ... Cohen/3797

You can vote more than once ... just have to use a different name at the end. Oops! Did I say that?

Thanks for sharing this link. Leonard Cohen, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday, Roy Orbison, Enrico Caruso. I'm surprised that Pavarotti is missing.
