Hello there,

I dont know how serious you guys are about off topic posts, but I just wanted to say hello...

I'm 18 years old and loved cohen's music for many years. friends of my father often played songs like suzanne or bird on a wire when we sat together making music and so gradually they grew on me... Then about a year ago I discovered his poems when I began writing songs myself.

I browsed through some of the posts here and was glad that the athmosphere around here is really great. I'm active in several other forums and this sadly is quite rare...

Hi Arno - how serious are we about off post topics? Well normally the first few posts are related to the original topic and then it all goes pear shaped generally some where in the middle of a mass of conflicting posts some brave soul sticks their head above the parapet and tries to redirect the thread back this normally sorts it out for the next two or three posts and then its back to chaos again.

I do sing and play his songs... well I think I do okay on the guitar part, the singing is another story

When I figured out the picking pattern for Suzanne I think I spent the night just doing this song... It still is my absolute favourite (One of the few songs that never ever get on my nerves)
