I'm told by Armelle that his Leonard Cohen Mt Baldy documentary "Spring '96" will soon be available on the French "Les Films du Paradoxe" label - though it is not on their schedule at the moment:
http://www.filmsduparadoxe.com/dvdvhs.html. This was available on VHS once-upon-a-time, so it will be good to have it officially available again on DVD.

I hope this happens. It would be good to have a DVD. I have an original French VHS tape bought in Paris in 1996 but the Secam format only plays in black and white in the UK.

Amazon France lists it - to be released on June 30.

It does not seem to have any subtitles in other languages, or does it? Does anybody know?
Here's afraid that I will not understand a lot of a documentary that is completely in French...

Ouch ... that's a bit pricey! Having said that, I will probably buy it anyway. Who needs subtitles? We can always look at the pictures!

I recall that the interviews were in English anyway... This is a must for every serious Cohen collector.
Let's hope Stina in Sweden will release her two similar Cohen documentaries on DVD as well! (Mt Baldy and Paris 2001)

Thanks for the replies and information
I know I would even buy it if the documentary was Ancient Greek with Martian subtitles

But it's good to know I might understand SOMEthing apart from enjoying the pictures.

According to this website, the language is English with French subtitles.

Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't seem available to order yet at
http://www.alapage.com?
By the way, Amazon.fr worked out at €26.66 with shipping to the UK. I ordered it there but wouldn't hesitate to cancel if I can find a better price somewhere else.

I have the original Sony France VHS. The movie is in English, completely. Strangely enough, my VHS tape didn't have any subtitles at all, even it's a French movie.
This is very nice news. Of course these days are the days for everybody to cash in on Cohen, but at least we have original and authorised product (released by local Sony, at least originally in 1997), not same fake DVDs like that Under Review double-set. Maybe BBC could use the moment and release their 1988 movie? Or CBS finally release Harry Rasky's The Song of Leonard Cohen.
Both Stina interviews are excellent although they're more like TV programme, while Brusq's movie *is* a (documentary) movie (and the good one - I also saw some movie on local TV directed by her, I think it was about Yves Saint-Laurent, with Jeanne Moreau as the narrator). Maybe Stina's interviews are harder to release as they're locally produced by TV company and it's hard for them to get copyrights from Sony, while "Spring 96" was released by Sony label...

Btw, is 20 Euros expensive!?
Live in London DVD is the same price, or even more. In Croatia (and Poland, where I'm currently) it's 25 Euros in the stores... New CDs are 15-20 Euros. Nick Cave remasters 30!

As I said, it's nearly €27 (£25) with shipping so yes, I think it's very expensive by our standards. I wouldn't normally pay that sort of money on a DVD but I have lost all sense of proportion where Leonard is concerned!

So, it's in English

And yes, with the shipping it gets quite expensive but considering how much I have paid for (admittedly out of print) books and other DVDs I guess this is a bargain *lol* I had already ordered from amazon when I saw it is so much cheaper elsewhere. Well, at least they are fast and the DVD might even get here on the day of its release
Thanks for all the info on the documentary, I am really looking forward to finally seeing it now.

I didn't find the way to order it from that French website, where it's 12 Euros.

Maybe our French speaking members can help us to make the order??
