His chuckling

Ok don't, um, *laugh*, but I am compiling a list of songs in which he does his famous chuckle.

I was just listening to the new live CD and noticed it captured the one he sometimes does in So Long Marianne on this current tour ("used to think I was some kind of Gypsy Boy -heheheh- before I let you take me home").

And of course there is my favorite: "monkey- heheheh- and the plywood violin" in First We Take Manhattan album track.

Seems like there is also a little chuckle in Hallelujah somewhere during the "now you never show it to me, do you" part.

Anyone know any others- live on the current tour or from albums? Please post them!

Another one from the new Live in London CD...
In The Future: "lie beside me, baby- heheheh- that's an order"

He also chuckles in Tonight will be fine (for a while), just before Oh sometimes I
see her undressing for me.

I'm so glad that you thought to gather these together, Mnkyface. A lovely little list.

Just when I think this list borders on the *too* trivial, there is a windfall like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEWnrFc73G8
(major chuckle around 2:00). I don't remember laughter right there in previous clips of Miracle from this tour, but could be wrong.

It just knocks my socks off when he does this!

There's always a chuckle in Everybody Knows - with years, it grew better than even that in Manhattan (which he stopped performing on the 1993 tour, but it was kinda weirdo in 1988 - he didn't do it like on the record, but little hysterically... on Toronto 1988 bootleg, I think, I was really worried for his state of mind when I heard that sound).

In Marianne, it's there since 1993 tour version (see: famous Zurich bootleg).

Recently I also heard one sudden chuckle, in Waiting for the Miracle from NOKIA theater (that's brand new one). But it's spreading, I caught it in Hallelujah, Bird on the Wire, The Future, and some other songs on 2008 recordings. Even on 1993 bootlegs, it was spreading as the tour went on, even to Joan of Arc and some other songs. But I'd need to listen them all to make a list.
It just knocks my socks off when he does this!
So there are at least the two of us!

I've had the Live in London on NON-STOP in my car for 2 weeks now and just noticed this in Hallelujah:

"Even though - heh - it all went wrong..."

very subtle but it's there!

A "new" (to me) chuckle in Aint No Cure:

'I'm aching for you baby - haha- I can't pretend I'm not..."

It's at around 1:45 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo2Wvzq0Nxk

Only found this one now - greeeat! Thanks for pointing it out, Esther - although I also love the "subtler" chuckle during the London "A Thousand Kisses Deep"-recitation and, indeed, the instances where you have got the impression that he has to suppress a chuckle, but none of these situations come readily to mind right now...
