Oh no, it's going to be announced at 12:01 AM on Friday February the 20th! All of us who are going to the NY concert will be tucked into PD O'Hurley's babbling away about the concert and nursing wines, beers and drinks! Will there be a printout for us? Or hopefully someone will have a laptop! 8)

Exciting news though! What a great finish for a very special evening :D :D :D

Hopefully Jarkko will if he plans to post the announcement himself at the appointed hour!

We can just look over his shoulder, then, right? But, then, there's always Rauli.

It is speculated that he is going to perform another night at the Beacon for those who couldn't get tickets.

***He will be back in NY but not at the Beacon / Jarkko***

Darn! Jarkko just burst my brief bubble!
If there were to be another night at the Beacon, that would mean joining Emmylou onstage on the 20th....

I just hope the announcement is something good for Leonard. I worry about him touring and touring...

I'd enjoy its being the announcement of wedding plans with Anjani... but it's not really his style to announce anything like that in this way... or 'prolly' even to have wedding plans ;-) . Oh well, I can dream.

Leonard Cohen to release live album
Monday, February 16 2009, 9:21am EST

By Mayer Nissim

Rex Features
Leonard Cohen will release his first album since 2004 with a live concert taken from his 2008 European tour.

The legendary singer-songwriter played a number of headline shows last year and the album was recorded at his O2 arena concert on July 17, 2008 in London.

Entitled Live In London, the LP features songs from across Cohen's career.

The tracklisting features songs from 'Suzanne', which featured on his 1967 debut Songs Of Leonard Cohen, to 'In My Secret Life', which opened his 2001 album Ten New Songs.

Live In London will be available on double-CD or DVD from March 31, 2009.

Cohen reportedly received £1 million in royalties last year for the use of his 1984 hit 'Hallelujah' in the final of The X Factor.

Leonard Cohen U.S. tour kicks off in Austin
By Michael Corcoran | Monday, January 19, 2009, 06:55 PM

Hallelujah! Canadian singer-songwriting legend Leonard Cohen is starting his 2009 U.S. tour at the Long Center April 2. This is a tip from bassist Roscoe Beck, the Austinite who serves as Cohen’s musical director. There are no ticket details yet.

Cohen’s promoter AEG Live could not be reached for confirmation, though a source at the Long Center said the final details of the show are being worked out.

Cohen has not toured the U.S. in 16 years. His recent shows in Europe sold out in minutes.

well, at least I now understand why I was not able to buy a ticket to this concert- despite logging on to Ticketmaster on the "first" morning of the sale: there was a pre-sale...

I will check back here later for the 'accouncement', hoping there might be another concert- and a chance to be there--

thank you for this site
and hope everyone had a wonderful evening--

(p.s. I waited a few hours outside the theater tonight, with a line of folks waiting for ? cancellations or.. it sure was windy and cold!)

Just located this announcement off Google News, attributed to AEG, http://www.ad-hoc-news.de/aeg-live-conf ... n/20060249
North American Dates, 29 concerts from April 2 until June 2!
Tickets sales beginning February 27 and then March 2 and March ?

Anybody know if this is the reliable information we need?
