Leonard Cohen U.S. tour kicks off in Austin
By Michael Corcoran | Monday, January 19, 2009, 06:55 PM

Hallelujah! Canadian singer-songwriting legend Leonard Cohen is starting his 2009 U.S. tour at the Long Center April 2. This is a tip from bassist Roscoe Beck, the Austinite who serves as Cohen’s musical director. There are no ticket details yet.

Cohen has not toured the U.S. in 16 years. His recent shows in Europe sold out in minutes.

I so hope this is true!!
And that this time tickets would be plenty :)
I'm still hoping against hope that some scalper will get desperate to sell his/her $2000 tickets and I can grab a couple :)

Go Mr. Cohen!! US TRIP YAY!

I WANT TO COME OVER WITH MY GIRLFRIEND FROM ENGLAND FOR A SHOW AND I CAN'T AFFORD NEW YORK TICKETS.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY OTHER RUMOURS / IDEAS WHERE ELSE HE MIGHT PLAY IN THE U.S?

THANKS.

According to Michael Corcoran's usually reliable Austin360 blog, Leonard Cohen will kick off his first U.S. tour in more than 15 years with an April 2 show at the Long Center. Corcoran received the tip from Austin's own Roscoe Beck, a local bassist who also serves as Cohen's musical director, who would probably know. No official confirmation or ticket information has been released yet, of course, although we'd advise you to keep a close watch for updates. Cohen's fanbase is notoriously ravenous--his recent shows in Europe sold out in minutes--and a recently announced New York gig for media and fan club members only left a lot of devotees clamoring in the wings. (Yes, Cohen fans are capable of clamor.) Yeah, yeah: "Everybody knows that the captain lied." Would it kill you people to try a little optimism?

I posted on this earlier at http://1heckofaguy.com/2009/01/21/looks ... -in-austin :

The updated >Austin360 Music Source (http://www.austin360.com/blogs/content/ ... ks_of.html) now reports:
Cohen’s promoter AEG Live could not be reached for confirmation [of the April 2, 2009 Leonard Cohen Concert in Austin], though a source at the Long Center said the final details of the show are being worked out. [emphasis mine]
In a related item, I have been informed, after a few inquires, that Roscoe Beck, a resident of Austin and the Musical Director of The Leonard Cohen Tour, had sent an email to his friends there, warning them that, since his allotment of complementary tickets was exhausted and Cohen’s shows were selling out rapidly, sometimes within minutes, those wishing to attend the concert should act immediately when seats went on sale. The email also had a link to the ticket sales site.

Jarkko, I swear you're going to be the death of me.

Remember, you're talking to a post-partum new mother, here! Okay, so you do have insider info!!!! Adam said in Vancouver that Leonard was touring there in "April or March."

So>>>>>??????

All good things (in time, right Jarkko?),
