Hello,
LC-fans... I'm new here and I would like to introduce myself in this topic.
I can't call myself a huge LC-fan, because I listen more to Nick Cave and Jeff Buckley.
But LC is a interesting person and his songs are worth the listen to.
I study dutch language and culture at university in Groningen (the Netherlands) and I'm 19 years old. am I the first dutch person on this forum? would be nice

I have my own website with poems and stories, but unfortunately there's only a dutch version available yet

My english is not good enough to translate it all to english, but maybe I will let someone translate for me someday
I want to become a writer, so I have to exercise in writing essays
well, I hope to have a great time here

cu

nothing. I found out about Leonard Cohen, because I was curious about who Kurt Cobain sang in Penny Royal Tea. I felt kind of depressed and he sung: give me a leonard cohen afterworld so I can sigh eternally.
I wanted to know more about this man, so that's how I rolled in.

Shwmae Wildrose (and anyothers I have missed over recent times)
I hope you enjoy yourself here and learn to appreciate and enjoy LC.

Hi wildrose ~
You "look the part" of someone in the arts. Great photo! With writing as an aspiration of yours, I guarantee that you will come to like, respect, and appreciate Leonard more with time. Marianne DeGroot is Dutch, but she mainly [if not exclusively] hangs out in the Chatroom. Will you be coming to New York in 2004? It'd be a shame to miss out, and then later [after the "like, respect, and appreciate" part occurs] wish to heck you'd been there. Think about it

thanks

I'm not coming to NY in 2004. What's up in New York? I've never been there before. I'm going to the states in about two years

Hi Wild Rose ~
You may [or may not] realize by now that you missed JTS's "

" regarding Nick Cave being too cheerful

.
If you up your plans for New York by one year, you'll be able to attend the Leonard Cohen Event, where a number of us will be. Jarkko will be there. Perla Batalla will be there. It's a two-day event that will occur on the Columbia University [where Leonard attended] campus. Some will stay on campus, others will stay at the Chelsea Hotel, and still others will spring for a high-dollar hotel. People will be there from all over the world. Go to Jarkko's main page and scroll down the left-hand list to the link for it. You can read about the Event's plans and see the list of confirmed participants. It's in the last grouping. Last year's was on Hydra. Two years prior to that was in Montreal. It would really be worth your attending. Hope to see you there

. [Don't feel any pressure, of course

Wild Rose,
Am I right is guessing that your photo/avatar is actually of a young Nick Cave and not yourself!

I saw a recent tv program about him and was impressed by some of his work. there are indeed some similarities with that of L C.

Hello all
New to these boards although have been a huge fan of LC for most of my life - could say I grew up with his music and would like to think that I still am. Big fan of Nick Cave too although only discovered the delights of his music a couple of months ago. Interesting factoid to share (or useless piece of information, dependng on your view point) is that Leonard's birthday is the day before Nicks. Does that have a bearing on their musical creativity? What do you think?

Hi Rock Rose ~ Another variety? Welcome to the Forum

!
I'd say, depending on the year, time of day, and location, hence the aspects and influences in the various houses, an astrologer might find a connection of sorts. Interesting, at least, it is.
