It couldn't be easier.
The Deansgate.
on..Deansgate
5 mins walk from venue, near Deansgate train station, big car park.
No dickheads, real ale, decent stout.

I'm flying in from Ireland on the Friday to see The Man and I'll certainly be there for pint or two ... I really miss decent ale - there's precious little to be found in Galway.

Can anyone recommend a decent eaterie nearby that would open around fourish?

Fear not Paula I'm around for all 4 concerts and I will meet up with Tim, Pete and yourself.
These Manchester folk are starting to sound a tad pretentious when all we want is a decent place to meetup.
I'm in Manchester tomorrow and I shall check out the Mark Addy, and the Deansgate.
I think it's best to stay clear of the little city drinking hostelries. These are fine if you work for Urban Splash or an insurance company and want to noisily discuss your sales figures for the week in a small room with a crowd of Manchester business city w*nkers.

Unlike Liverpool there's nothing actually for the vistor to see and do in Manchester unless you want to have a ride on the big wheel.
What time do you expect to arrive?
Are you staying overnight?

Ta Ken

Ken what time we arrive is in the lap of the Gods and Pete's navigational skills. Pete and his good lady wife are putting up with me overnight in Derby. I will trust your judgment on the pubs as long as it isn't a Wetherspoons

Ken, I really don't care where we meet and I am sadly beginning to wonder whether it is a good idea. Rodin has come up with a decent suggestion of the Deansgate, let's just go for that and ignore the distractions like a dislike of suits that are dragging this out. It is the Company and not the Place and that may well be the key difference betyween Manchester and Liverpool. Please let's build on Rodin's suggestion, we are buying a glass or two and not the freehold

Excellent news. All I wanted was a couple of you Mancs to agree on a place.

These concerts are far too important to me to be drinking before the gig so unusually, some might say, for me I won't be drinking, well maybe a half or two just to be sociable.
Don't forget there's a lot of us forum members who have been meeting up together in various parts of the world for quiet a number of years now.
All we wanted was somewhere handy for the Opera House that was not too busy where we can all gather together, grab a bite to eat, chat with old friends, and perhaps make a couple of new ones.

That's it then - the official meetup venue for the 4 evenings is the Deansgate.

Be there or be square.

I shall go and scouse the place up a bit tomorrow.
