Tomorrow's programme will be devoted to Leonard Cohen. It starts at 7.15pm (after The Archers) and ends at 7.45. You can listen to it again for the following seven days on
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/frontrow
I have a feeling it may be a repeat of the interview that was broadcast last year... still...

Listening to it right now. As I thought, it is a repeat, but it's such a lovely interview it's certainly no hardship.

Nice interview! Too much Lawson, not enough Cohen, but great to listen to that lovely rich speaking voice, and to get some small insight into the man.

[Hi Fljots

~ Great to see you! Will you be seeing Leonard? The essential answer to that is "YES!"

Nice to see you, too!
Would I could afford it, Lizzy! He will be at Manchester, which I could get to easily, but my daughter checked out ticket prices, and 100 UK pounds(the pound symbol on my keyboard doesn't work) is beyond my reach.
Hey! LOOK!! £££££££££! writing the above finally made me realise how screwed up this keyboard is - cos several anomalies re symbols - so I checked it out and found it had US settings. I now have it on UK settings and the symbols are ALL where they should be and ALL are present!
I may not be able to go see LC at Manchester, but at least he has been instrumental in fixing my keyboard, LOL!

When was the first talk broadcasted? (I mean, the one after Manchester exhibition). I somehow missed it completely. This is the same one?

Tom
You can listen to it here again on the 'listen again' button.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/frontrow/
I'm sure the content for both interviews comes from the same meeting they had at the Richard Goodall gallery in Manchester last year but they are different. I haven't had a chance to check right through but the first couple of questions that Lawson asks are different from last year's interview.
Tom I know you like to know these things so I can tell you that last year's interview was broadcast on the BBC radio 4's arts programe Front Row on 19 July 2007.
If you want a wav. cd recording of them both just let me know and I will pop a copy into the post.
You can put them on the same shelf as your ever expanding Dylan collection:-)

I completely agree. I listened to it with my knitting and my poached eggs, and it was great, though I'm sure it was a repeat. Then again, almost everything ever on radio 4 is a repeat. They have been repeating an afternoon play about a Welsh harpist for over ten years now. The things that pleased me most were:
a) Leonard's mentioning Umm Kolthoum and her four hour performances (unless I mis-heard).
b) That he likes 3rds and 5ths. Hardly news but it pleased me nevertheless.

Rachel - you are a Manchester girl - are you going to see Cohen at the Opera House?

(that's green for envy!)

Hi Fljots ~
Jim Devlin in the spare tickets thread just posted having 2 tickets for Manchester at 75 pounds each. Not much different from the 100 each, but every bit helps. Perhaps, between you and your daughter, you could come up with enough for you to attend together? I cannot imagine your letting this pass you by, Fljots! You will be SOOOOO glad that you WENT!!!
