Top 3 Songs To Make your Concert???

I was just thinking 'what song would i want to hear' to make my Leonard experience complete. I know, he could recite the telephone directory and still have us in the palm of his hand :) But, truly, you must have all thought at least once over the past few months 'I realy hope he sings......'

For me? The first Leonard Cohen song I ever heard when I was 12 years old -jeez - was 'Famous Blue Raincoat' so that would do it for me.

Top 3?
Famous Blue Raincoat
Hey, That's no way....
The Smokey Life
I Tried to Leave You
Coming Back to You
Everybody Knows
Ain't No Cure
Isaac
Dance me to the end of Love

Hey, I never said this would be easy...... ;-)

Older stuff... Famous Blue Raincoat, Dress Rehearsal Rag (unlikely!), The Stranger Song

Newer stuff... Alexandra Leaving, Light as the Breeze, Take this Waltz (not exactly new, I know)

Except my choices will change depending on my mood! And I've kind of rushed off my songs because I've got to go and make dinner (I think I'm going to make a canneloni - been pondering it for a while), so other people will post their choices, and I'll be going "Oh yes that one! And that one! Oh, man! I can't believe I didn't say that one!" xxx

ok my choice would have been lasagna or maybe a risotto, but cannelloni is not too bad. but no need to berate yourself for not thinking of them

So Long, Marianne coz it's my favourite LC song, even though I'll probably cry all through it if he actually did play it

My ex said I could never do a top anything of anything and he was just proved correct

Light as the Breeze
Tower
All 50 odd verses of Hallelujah

I hope the canneloni is vegetarian ;-) but enjoy any road up :)

Going off line now. Can't wait to see other choices.

Goodnight and god bless all xx

If he were to come to Romania, which I hope but yet I don't know...I would say:

1. BE FOR REAL - and please come to Romania, Mr. Cohen, do come! .. .. don't give me the world today and tomorrow take it away.

2. TOWER OF SONG - Lay your golden voice on our souls...cause we're crazy for you

3. anything as long as he's in Bucharest...

Just three? Impossible!

So here goes..........

Night comes on ( "and here's to the few who forgive what you do, and the fewer who don't even care" - magic!)
If it be your will
(both from surely THE most underrated album ever)

And either "The Partisan" or "One of us cannot be wrong" But how to chose?

Quick Dave, press "submit" before you think of a hundred others!

Easy ...

1. Closing Time
2. Famous Blue Raincoat
3. Any other song from the c. 125 strong back catalogue

Ok: I jest about the easy bit. Today I've been listening mainly to The Future and to Songs of Love and Hate (hence 1 and 2). Yesterday I was listening to Recent Songs and to Songs from a Room, so it would have been The Traitor and A Bunch of Lonesome Heroes.

Perhaps a more doable challenge is to list the one song from each album that you would most like to hear live in 2008...?

I'm pretty damn sure that I'll be going to the first concert, in Fredericton. Do people want me to post what he does sing? Or would you rather be surprised when you see the show?

My choices:
1. Famous Blue Raincoat (as close to perfection as any song ever came)
2. Alexandra Leaving
3. One of Us Cannot be Wrong

I didn't list Suzanne because I know he's gonna do that one.

Somehow I cannot decide for three favorite songs, five is much easier. Why?
Anyhow, here they go at random order:
Take this waltz
Captain
Closing time
In my secret life
Halleluyah (however I do prefer it covered by Jeff Buckley)
Still keeping my fingers crossed I'm able to get tickets for the Lisbon concert...

Freaky stuff!!!!
I just posted my top choices. I'm down in my basement working on a Web site and listening to Galaxie. That's a music service on cable. I've got the Folk/Roots station on and they start playing Famous Blue Raincoat!!!!!!!!!!

I'm freakin' out, I tell you.

No better way to freak out than[in the nicest possible way] listening to LC.

It might feel freaky to technical guys, but there is no reason to freak out, it's just a simple synchronicity ,
happens when you are in tune with yourself and the universe,
I believe Jarkko described a similar experience with another Cohen song a couple of years ago.

NOT including the obvious choices (Suzanne, So Long Marianne, Hallelujah...)

1. Closing Time
2. Hey That's No Way to Say Goodbye
3. Tonight Will Be Fine

EDIT: I would like to squeeze Field Commander Cohen into a very close 4th place.
