Sherry's daughter wrote me to inform us that Sherry passed away peacefully yesterday evening. "I know she would have wanted me to let the Leonard Cohen group know, as she met some of you in person on her trips to Berlin and Greece and was very fond of her participation on this forum".
Sherry Lynn Smith
1955 - 2008
Her kind heart stopped beating
at 9PM on February 28, 2008
The kindness of her heart
Will live forever
Sincerely,
Mariana Gomez-Smith

Sherry, Hydra 2007
- If any members want to pass on their condolences, please contact me - I have Mariana's email address. / Jarkko

I am so sorry to hear this. I met Sherry during a week spent on Hydra last summer with other Cohen friends, and later in Ireland at the Mullingar music festival. She was feeling a little unwell in Ireland but I never suspected there was something seriously wrong.
Please pass on my condolences to her family.
Margaret

My condolences to her family. That is terribly sad news. I was also on Hydra last year.

I didn't know Sherry, I haven't been to Hydra since 2002, but I'd like to offer my deepest condolences to her family as a member of the circle of B'losers.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Sherry helped me with pronouncations on Hydra. I remember her warm and quiet way. May she rest in peace.

That is very sad news. I have happy memories of Mullingar, when I chatted with with Sherry whilst she shared with me her inflatable sofa and umbrella. Condolences to Mariana and the rest of the family.

Oh no.
I've only just now read this, after reading my email from Jarkko with the same message.
Sherry and I roomed and spent our time together on Hydra. She was quiet, warm, clever, deeply caring, and wonderful. I have a better photo of her that I'd like to have posted here of her, Jarkko, if I can send it on to you for doing that. It was taken on our small, second-story, Hydra balcony and shows the Sherry I came to know.
If you could post the photo within my posting here, I'd really appreciate it.
I will write directly to her daughter.
Thank you, Jarkko.
Love,
Lizzy

You can either send the photo to me, or attach it directly to a new message here.
Meanwhile, here is a photo her daughter shared with us:
