My condelences to your partner Andrew. The whiners of this thread were big jokers mostly (well I hope).
Fortune, fortune.... I wonder.... because while one is seing the glass always half empty, the other is seing it half full. The same glass. Is one more fortunate than the other? And which one and why? The fortune cookie I had lately told me "Youl futule is as boundless as the lofty sky". Since I don't eat any more fortune cookies, as I'm waiting for the prediction to happen before opening another one.

Dear Andrew ~
I'm very sorry to hear about your partner's cousin. Most of us go through hard times, but that's a very premature and cruel ending to what sounds like a life filled with too much misfortune. Please tell your partner I'm sorry. That's got to be hard for her if they were close.
Love,
Lizzy

Hello,
I read the comments on the winners and the fact that some of them never show up here. One winner was Jade and she's a good friend of mine. She competed in the draw on my behalf and will give her prize to me when it arrives. She's also a Leonard Cohen fan, but not as intens as I am... When we first met, I told her I liked LC and was surprised she even knew the guy! She knew LC through her mother, who's also a bit of a fan. When the War Child postcards came out, I ordered a few and later gave both one. They were very pleased with it and whenever I run into her now, we always seem to talk about LC for a few minutes... I promised here to go and have dinner with her and her boyfriend because of the 3th prize she won and I'll definetely look for a nice present as well for her!
I know Jade visits the forum (and the Files) from time to time (Hello Jade!), but she's -just like me- a bit of a "passive" follower of all the activity here. I am registered as a participant for the Berlin-event and I'm looking forward to meeting some of the people here.
Take care,
Maarten

Hey, Maarten!
What a great idea
that was

! And, of all ones to win,
doing it that way

! Congratulation for good thinking, as
well as winning

!
Enjoy your dinner together ~ and enjoy your prize

!

Reading Jarkko's note,
I just want to clarify that when I said "of all ones to win," I wasn't referring to either Maarten's or Jade's frequency/infrequency of visiting, but to the one who enlisted [or was offered] the help of a proxy to do so, would
be one of those to win, and
via the proxy

.
Right, Jarkko ~ the Files, not the Forum

Just a short clarficiation: The draw was a part of the 10th Anniversary of the main site The Leonard Cohen Files, it was not "just" for members of this Forum. The front page of the Files gets about 500 hits (=visitors) every day, and only a fraction of these visitors are also Forum members.
So it is more than natural that some winners have never posted here.
The same with the Gallery of B Losers - there are many faces who are not posting on any forums, but they are or have been very active in some other way. Like organized our Events, edited newsletters, contributed to The Files on regular basis, and so on. It's great that so many active Forum members have recently sent their photos - but we are still waiting for many more!!!

Dear Jarkko,
Now that the draw has been made, winners announced, losers informed by the lack of mention, can I ask how many participated?
Andrew.

Andrew,
jarkko wrote:Anjani picked up the winners yesterday. The names are now announced on the front page of The Files. We had about 300 participants in the draw.
Congratulations to Larry / Wocjiech / Jade / Bobbie / Richard !!!
Larry
will wait to pick up his award

More than a year. Maybe he deserves one of yours DVDs, Jarkko, to be consolated until then? Just an idea

now, in the light of the map idea
I just installed some great software, Google Earth. At this moment I'm online (you must be connected) watching the roof of my building in downtown Zagreb, Croatia, thru satellites' camers, thru the clouds... Unbelievable! I heard about such stuff, but you gotta see it to believe it!
Now, this is excellent software for each of us to find the places of others

Hello All,
I just wanted to offer my congrats to all the winners! Hooray! I never, ever dreamed I would win, therefore, sour grapes don't even enter the picture. Hooray, to the winners, once more!
Speaking of pictures (I did, up in the previous paragraph), that's an awfully big one or two you have there, Tom. I've had a look at some of these things that can pin-point ones own home from space! Truly amazing, inventive and, yes, fun. If I install it, Tom, will you buy me one of those nice, BIG screens? The one I have will simply not do the job. Google has just about everything these days.
Regards,
Linda.

Hello,
Yesterday was one of the best days of my life! I had received a card in my mailbox to go and pick up a package at the postoffice last friday, and yesterday I found some time to go there.
I gave the card to the man behind the counter and he went for a search for my package. When he returned, he had a big smile on his face and said to me:
This is for you. It says it's from Leonard Cohen.
Is it really from THE Leonard Cohen?" He asked. And I smiled back and answered: well, it might just be so!
Now I'm to proud owner of a handsigned "The Future"-tour t-shirt!
I'll cherish it deeply and hope everyone of you may be so lucky sometimes too!
