Various Positions only has 9 songs. I'm Your Man has 8. I often forget that, so Popular Problems is in good company.jerry wrote:Only 9 songs?

Both of those albums are in my top 5 favorite LC albums along with Songs of Love and Hate which has 8 songs. While not in my top 5, The Future is another good one which has 9 songs. So in that respect it is in good company.astranger wrote:Various Positions only has 9 songs. I'm Your Man has 8. I often forget that, so Popular Problems is in good company.jerry wrote:Only 9 songs?
Valid points. The albums contain so much it's easy to look past the seemingly small amount of songs; The Future is a great example of that. I personally love DOALM, it's fun and cheeky and such a left turn for him. But I digress...bigdee wrote:Both of those albums are in my top 5 favorite LC albums along with Songs of Love and Hate which has 8 songs. But then again at the same time I am reminded of Death of a Ladies Man with its 8 songs, so in my opinion there is a little polution in those waters too. It's a shame because I really like the lyrics on DOALM, I just don't like what Phil did with the music and production. In 1993 LC said in an interview in Goldmine that he often considered re-recording that album. I really wish he would revisit those songs so that they would live on as he would like them to sound and not the train wreck Phil gave us in 1977.
