Sorry musicmania, the Plaque is sitting here in the hall awaiting photographer,
he was to be here 2 hours ago :!: .
I could take a dozen pictures of it with my Fuji FinePix F480 but I am not able to upload the result :oops: .
I wish you were here with your camera and computer skills.
Anyway I have to return with the Plaque as there is a "comma" missing after "Massa",

will try to have it adjusted :neutral: .

I will make it all up to thee
by inviting you to accompany us by car from Carlow to Sligo on Monday the 20th September,
stay overnight as guest in the Pier Head hotel in Mullaghmore and attend the ceremony the following day in Lissadell :idea: .
All you have to do is hop on the train from Kildare to Carlow and off we go ...;-).

PS. bring your camera as Sligo based photographer, Mary, "manslady" will be away on a 780km walk from St. Jean Pied de Port in SW France to Santiago de Compostela in NW Spain :!: .

The amount collected to date for the Plaque fund totals 301 euro.
Thanks to all who have contributed to this.
On Friday next I will compile a complete list of names and amounts donated and circulate to each contributor,
is that a fair and accountable system :?: ( open to suggestions..).
I still have no idea of the cost as the stonecutter Frank McGarry is difficult to pin down,
but I will know on Monday ;-) .

:D Ah thank you so much for your kindness Mick. After a tough week it brings tears to my eyes. I'll be very honoured to join you and will most certainly bring my camera. Really looking forward to this very special way of celebrating Leonards birthday! :D

Any idea what time the event takes place in Lisadell on the 21st ?. I need idea of time as I will be travelling up from Dublin by train or bus and returning the same day. Looking forward to seeing a picture of the stone on Monday. I am interested in how the inscription turned out, which one did you use ?. Red is a good color for the Heart's symbol, jeney.
Dublin 22nd July 2009. Sligo 31st July and 1st August 2010.

I would hope the little ceremony takes place around noon on the 21st.

Mick you have read my mind, well sort of. I was just thinking that if Leonard doesn't tour next year we should try and organise a get together of all our friends here and on Facebook!

Hi Gwen and jdhayes,

I'm ready for it...wonderful warm memories! The concerts of course, but much more than that....the countryside, the people, the warmth. I will be there in a flash! :D

Okay will work on something to take place in Sligo during 2011.
The Lissadell Plaque will be erected next Tuesday, perhaps we could have the official unveiling in 2011 :!:
might even have a "special guest" perform the unveiling :!:.

"Good Morning Michael,
As logistics have simply become unpredictable due to traffic and certain technical issues, we will not be able to get band members to and from Sligo today. I apologize for this let down, but on show days all decisions must be made erring on the side of caution. Hopefully we can make an event happen in the future" --
when they found that members of the Band could not make it to Sligo town for the tree-planting gathering on Sat. 31st July :!: ).
Also this might be a good launch pad for effort to hold the Leonard Cohen bi-annual Event in Ireland in 2014 :idea:
next Event is planned for Madison, Wisconsin in 2012.
Any takers to promote Ireland :?: ..... ;-)

That is good musicmania, you arrive at Carlow Train station on the 20th and we will head for Sligo from here :!: .
Forum Members may think I know you away from the Forum but the fact is that I only met you very briefly in Sligo at the tree-planting. ;-)

Yes we have indeed only met briefly before! Looking forward to meeting you again and heading back to Sligo Monday week :D

Would be brilliant to have the bi-annual event here in 2014!!! I for one would do all I could in helping with this should it become a reality :!:
