I thought the pre-sale continued until Thursday?

Wow! Does that mean all pre-sale tickets were in fact purchased the first day? But, if so, I wouldn't fret because forum members knew of the tour - but when the general public tickets are released Thursday much of the general public won't be aware of the tour and getting tickets might be not so hard.

Regarding the Maritime/Atlantic Canadian rumor I think I started that thread as a friend's friend in Moncton was working on a date. I have no more on that but I find it suspicious (a) that the announced tour begins in Toronto - such a large center where reviews will be highly publicized, (b) most bands prefer to launch a tour in a few smaller venues first to hone their stage chemistry (especially a band that is assembled like this one), (c) because Jarkko wrote that more Canadian cities will be announced this week - and, if you look at the schedule, about the only place to put them is before Toronto, and finally, (d) because we've always been told the tour would start in May.

My guess - Moncton or Halifax and a few others (maybe Quebec City and Ottawa) will precede Toronto.

Hours after his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Leonard Cohen announced his first tour in over fifteen years. The seventy-three year old songwriter — whose 1984 classic “Hallelujah” (as interpreted by Jeff Buckley) is currently the number one song on iTunes thanks to American Idol — has no American dates currently on the books. However, according to his Web site, Cohen may bring the tour Stateside towards the end of the year. His decision to tour probably has much to do with the fact that his former manager squandered his $5 million pension and left him with $150,000. The tour kicks off June 6th in Toronto. I'm glad for everybody who got tickets. Hope he comes to Northern California, or any California will do. Even the West Coast of Canada. I must say that he was at his sartorial best last night on the telecast.

I see the O2 Arena show goes on sale this Friday (14th). Makes it a tough decision whether to wait for the Manchester shows to go on sale, presumably after the O2 goes on sale, or avoid disappointment, and book O2 anyway.
Does anyone have any kind of idea what the for demand for tickets will be?
I'm hoping to catch all 4 of the Mcr shows anyway, but makes me nervous because it's such a small, but fantastic, theatre, and my place of work is directly over the road from the Opera House...would hate to be sat there in June watching everyone filing in, while I sit at my desk thinking of things that might have been.

Leonard's tour management says that these days are tentative and partly not correct, and there will be more. Therefore I have been asked not yet to list the August dates until they are 100 % confirmed.

although the budapest sziget festival starts on 12 august,
there will only be 2 concerts on the 12th and Leonard is not among those two (unless he joined Iron Maiden)

There are others who may hate to watch the same people filing in night after night, instead of allowing as many different fans as possible to see Leonard Cohen.

It appears that Leonard's appearance at the Opera House in Manchester will be onsale at Ticketmaster this Friday; the official Manchester International Festival website:

It also states on their site that these will be the only theatre dates on the UK leg of the tour but as we all know there's a chance that Leonard might hit some smaller venues in a later leg. There's a contact number on there for one of the event organisers and I thought it might be worth getting in touch to find out some more details regarding ticket sales but Jarkko is of course fabulous at keeping us updated and I don't know how much they would appreciate a call from me in all honesty anyway!

It also appears that the AEG website is being periodically updated with information regarding ticket sales so it's worth keeping an eye on that too...

I don't know if anyone on here has a telephone contract with O2 but I do know that they often run presales for artists playing at the O2 arena. I'm with Orange so won't be able to keep anyone updated but perhaps if someone hears something they might pass the information on?! I've been thinking for some time about getting a SIM card for O2 so that I could take part in their presales and it would be worth it for Leonard. It's probably also worth noting that Ticketmaster usually note whether there is to be a presale period on the right hand side of the venue's/artist's ticketing page and there doesn't seem to be one for Leonard yet - for the O2 anyway. Let's wait to see what happens with Manchester...

I'm confused! I've looked at all the smiley emails for those who have been lucky enough to get presale tix for the Canada dates - I'm delighted for all of them!!

But I thought we would get the same privilege of a password and presales dates for European UK and Ireland concerts - the ones nearest to me are Dublin, Manchester, the o2 in London. But Ticketmaster are only advertising 14 June and not 15th for Dublin ( I can't go on 14th!!), and it seems both o2 and Manchester so far will only be available through the public Ticketmaster site - so we'll have to take our chances (and probably get tix miles away from the stage! - if we get them at all) with the general public.

PLEASE Jarrko - are there any plans for tix for those concerts to have a presale and password?? I am getting very concerned about ending up with no tix at all!

You are doing a fantastic job and I'm very appreciative, but is the advance info for the UK and Ireland concerts confined to just giving us the dates ahead of time???!!!

As stated elsewhere, Ticketmaster are probably waiting to sell out 14th Dublin before "graciously" (hah)announcing a second concert for 15th! Hang in there

Although I'm in Ireland, I'm looking at going to Manchester.... does anyone know whether I have a better or worse chance by trying to buy through the Irish Ticketmaster site, than through the UK one...?
