I was sitting at my computer working on my submission for Leonard's 75th birthday and have just heard the news that he collapsed on stage. I absolutely freaked out :!: I'm so glad to hear he's fine now and will be OK for his birthday. I truely don't know where his stamina comes from. Take care Leonard.

This is what I posted on the Huffington Post before I came here:

Mr. Cohen is an international treasure. I cannot adequately express how much comfort and pure joy he has provided me over the years. I was a writer, artist, designer and seamstress, but am now disabled, and cannot use my hands or arms. Listening to his music takes the sting out of what I have lost. While muchof his music is quite serious, with healthy doses of irony and cynicism, it always makes me laugh, a vital part of the healing process, as we all know. I cannot imagine a world without Leonard Cohen in it, and I hope I don't have to do that for a very, very long time. But come what may, the music will live on, along with the pleasure it brings. Get well, Mr. Cohen. Don't work too hard. You have already contributed far more than anyone could possibly be expected to. I wish you love, peace and a rapid recovery.

Sharon

After coming here:

Thank G-d! Mr. Cohen is indestructible. And I know he will keep rolling on for many years to come. I wish him peace, love and good health. The world needs him now more than ever -- I need him.

Sharon

I'm so glad to hear that Leonard is doing fine. Here's hoping that he continues to stay well for many years to come. My prayers are that Leonard has an awesome 75th birthday and a well deserved break after Barcelona!

valerio, who is already in Israel
Lucky person.
Yes, indeed, waiting for the miracle to come... beautifully put
Would have done almost anything to see Leonard Cohen in Israel.
Will have the honor to hear him in NYC this October.

By the way, if you have a moment, make sure you try the double espresso at ILAN'S cafe on Ibn Gvirol street in Tel Aviv.
Magic happens when you do.

Enjoy

My (very active) 87 year old mother-in-law has suffered from this for years and with treatment carries on as normal. She is painfully thin too but she burns off all her spare calories mowing the lawn, cutting hedges etc (she won't let us do it - "a day will come when I can't. Then I'll let you."). I think that's partly why she's still so amazingly spry. Admittedly though she hasn't ever embarked on a massive world tour.....I've often thought that Leonard's frequent kneeling and rising during the performance would send ME dizzy (and play havoc with my knees) and I'm 20 years younger!

Glad you're feeling better Leonard: take care of yourself or at least let others!

<later edit> I post this as a reassurance, not an extended discussion or hypothesis on Leonard's health!

Interesting post.
Since you mentioned concern for Leonard Cohen's physical state.. I was wondering if perhaps this was not just a bout of intestinal flu but perhaps also symptomatic of orthostatic hypotention?
Was it determined he had an episode of syncopy?
He is unbelievably agile, remarkably so.

I hope he is given a full workup.

I certainly need Leonard Cohen to be around for a long long time....

jenny,
my concern is that after seeing how thin his hands are, how thin he is overall....dont want to mention the word
but it made me think of the image of a patient's closing time

I know you all mean well :) but such depth to the comments on his health... can't we just wish him well and carry on now?
