Having seen this at the screening in Barcelona, I can't wait for the release, it really captured the atmosphere of the festival and the additional interviews were very informative. Brilliant performances from Leonard too, a particular favourite has to be Tonight Will Be Fine (good to finally see it after hearing it all these years!), though was disappointed to see they had edited down Sing Another Song Boys. The effect that Leonard had on the unruly crowd was amazing  :D

Somehwhat_nifty, please don't say they edited down Sing Another Song Boys. That is is the one I really, really wanted to see on video. After listening to it for so long - for ever really - that was the one song I was looking forward to seeing on the DVD. Are you saying it is not presented in full? I don't want to hear this, I can't bear it! Why or why do film directors have to try and "improve" on everything. What don't they get about having a light touch - let it be! I mean, if the it wasn't filmed in the first place, fair enough, but a song like Sing Another Song Boys is such a masterpiece, if it is on film why edit it out? How badly is it presented? I'm starting to feel like I don't want to see this video as it will just be too frustrating. I mean, Suzanne is Ok, but I think there are so many more interesting and satisfying songs. Sorry for the rant. My b/day today, too many (good) aussie wines; so looking forward to the IoW video, but ever bit of news about it seems to be so deflating of expectations.

Elcord I'm afraid so - that's the song I was eagerly waiting for as well, they cut part of a verse and some of the 'la la's at the end  There is most of it though, and I certainly wouldn't say the film is a disappointment, far from it. I think Lerner was interested in capturing the atmosphere of the festival rather than documenting every track.

I hope you had a good birthday today :D

Thanks for the birthday wishes Diana and nifty. Was very pleasantly spent with friends. Always liked the idea of nearly sharing my birth date with Leonard. Was rather shocked to learn that our (Australian) Prime Minister's birthday is 21st Sept! The Isle of Wight CD and DVD will be a terrific belated present -whatever is on the DVD. I do hope we see Leonard play hands though. I just know I should not have mentioned this. :?

I saw him do it in 1974, Albert Hall Sept 20th.
I forgot to mark the occasion.

Leonard at the Isle of Wight CD gets a full page review (by Neil Spencer) with colour pic in November's "Uncut" and a five-star rating. However, in their "I50 Greatest Albums of the 20th Century" listing, "Ten New Songs" is placed at 143! (very unfair). Dylan's "Love and Theft" is No 2, and Brian Wilson's "Smile" No4 (both rightly so). The LC "IOW" DVD is also reviewd briefly, and gets a four-star rating.

P.S. Since we're discussing "150 Greatest Albums" and November's is the 150th Uncut, I've just noticed that synchronistically, this is my 1150th post, here!

on Amazon UK £15.99

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Live-At-Isle-Wi ... 64&sr=1-30

Described as one disc. It must be audio cd one side and dvd on the reverse :?:

***Amazon may have got it wrong - there will be three different products: 2disc set with audio CD and this DVD / a separate BluRay movie / 2LP vinyl set (audio) / Jarkko***
