Wendy,,,am not sure whic part of the Uk you live, but I live in the north east and I have booked my ticket to Vegas to go from my local airport with KLM. Ok, it is not a direct flight, I call it the "scenic route" but it is much cheaper than the Virgin direct flight from London. I only booked the flight on Monday gone - I too was waiting for the next month on my credit card!!!
PM me if you need any more info

Hi Graham
Yes it would be great if you caught both shows..there are quite a few people doing that and there is a flight from Las Vegas to San Jose
on Southwest airlines a few of us have booked.
I will PM you re tickets..if you have a ticket to sell a good place to start is this forum.
There is already a thread for the Fall Tour..
You have great seats and I am in the row behind you for San Jose.
Where do you live in Australia?

I haven't sorted anywhere to stay but am happy in cheap and cheerful, I looked at one of the hotels mentioned in here and it looked pretty swish! Does anyone know what it is like at that time to just rock up at hostel type places? I need my own bedroom / bathroom but it does not have to be flash...

Check out the Arena Hotel in San Jose, which is right by the venue and is bound to be within easy walking distance of any meet ups etc. When I looked the prices were pretty reasonable and include a (hot?) breakfast though personally I'm sticking with "swish"!

Hi Wendy..where is 'swish'?
Fairmont? Anza?
I think I am going to stay at De Anza...its only 3 blocks away and looks nice.
The Fairmont looks beautiful and has some good prices if you get the non refundable rooms
and so am still thinking of that but its a longer walk..
Cheers

Hi Wendy,
I have found Expedia to be a good source of cheap flights. I think you would get a better price if you come via New York.

Thank you everybody for your messages about flights. However, we chose the flights we did for some very specific reasons which I won't go into here and we are not in a position to go for the (usually cheaper) indirect routes so I ended up booking as planned, even though Virgin fleeced us on the price. I am making myself feel better by bombarding their Customer Services with several vitriolic e-mails a day to which they simply send inane self justifying responses!

You'll have to ask Graham as he was the one who used the word. I think we'll probably settle on the Fairmont but I am holding reservations at both the Fairmont and De Anza at present.

Mutti....In Oz language "swish" doesn't have the same connotation that it may for us in America
From the way Graham worded his question about hotels, I think "swish" would be the Fairmont and the de Anza. He's looking for something more in the line of a hostel, which I have no idea if one exists in the San Jose area or not. Perhaps I'll try to check that out for him. Meanwhile, I'll stick with my creature comforts "swish" place

Now I'm curious!! I think I was using the word in the same way as Graham. Maybe you ought to PM me to tell me what I missed Diana!

I found somewhere less swish that might suit Graham ("swish" means upmarket in the UK!)

Hi Margaret, Absolutely! That is the meaning of the word...basically. In fact, growing up in Canada it was also used to represent something "upscale". Somehow Americans mess around with perfectly good words and accord them additional meanings.

OMG, I may change my reservation! The Howard Johnson Convention Centre is $18.75 per night! The de Anza is like $150. per night...which I thought was reasonable....hah! Forget about swish!

It is quite funny logging on and seeing what you have been saying while I am sleeping. 'Swish' is definitely 'up market' or 'flash' in the Aussie parlance, and the Fairmont and the de Anza fit that bill I reckon. I wonder what swish means in USA speak?
I have bought a Las Vegas ticket (FORCH3, row JJ, seat 306) and changed my flights so I am now doing two shows back to back

and hoping to catch up with some forumers while I am there....
For accom I will probably end up at one of these . . .. ?
Arena -------------------

About $80 per night, real close
Crowne Plaza ----------

Howard Johnson -------
