Perhaps he's going to endorse Tilley Hats, as made in Canada, in order to get a free new hat?

New York time is the same time as Montreal time. Something was "accidentally" leaked in the french TVA morning program this morning: Leonard Cohen COULD be back in Montreal Place des Arts at the end of June 2009 around the same dates as last year (24-25). They insisted that it was still UNCONFIRMED. Monday would be a good time for confirmation I guess. :D

Aaah, if that is the case I hope Leonard will choose the following "special announcement": That there has been a secret prize draw to celebrate the success of the tour so far, and that one very lucky active forum member - i.e. Womanfromaroom - has won the main prize, which is a dinner with the man himself! :D
That certainly suits my mood...

I know what it is. Leonard is being awarded the Nobel prize for literature.

I think it's significant that the announcement is coming at 10am Eastern Standard Time. That's 7am in Los Angeles. First thing that came to mind was an announcement that 'Hallelujah' has been nominated for an Academy Award in Music. Was it on any soundtracks this year? Because I was pregnant most of last year, 2008 was a bit of blur.

So, that's my guess. My second one was that Anjani is expecting twins, sometime in May (pure speculation, of course!)

I hope everyone is well. Happy New Year!

Shalom,

Natalie

The fact that this announcement is being made at a very specific time leads me to think that it's not something that Jarkko or Leonard have control over. So, if it's down to a third party, my guess is that Sony is going to hand back to Leonard all the rights to his back catalogue that they got from Kelley Lynch. The delay is probably due to making sure the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny are both free to attend the ceremony :)

I don't understand why a specific time would lead you to conclude that Leonard and/or Jarkko has no control over it. I think they're both capable of controlling where they are and what they're doing at a given time.
I like the guesses for another tour, and the one that said, "Leonard has just entered the chat room."

I wonder.....are we avoiding the obvious..... the elephant in the room (no, LC is not an elephnt!)....not an Academy Award, not LC entering the chatroom etc, not on Letterman...

its the LIST OF VENUES FOR THE UPCOMING US /CANADA TOUR!

Maybe its so obvious that we are all just teasing each other!!!

Oh well, here goes......

LA
San Francisco
Vancouver
Edmonton
Winnnipeg
Chicago
New York
Toronto
Montreal (at the Jazz Festival/Place des Arts for FINAL... FINAL appearance. That will be an extraordinary ticket to get! Can Jarkko help?

Who wants to fill in the missing venues?

Hm, interesting to read all these wild speculations. However, please note that I wrote already on the 2nd page of this thread:
"The US/W Canadian tour will not be announced yet." On page #3 I said "Hm... interesting speculations indeed, but I have to tell you that so far they all are wrong! "
That included all family affairs of any kind! Also it has nothing to do with any particular song, or new album, or the DVD, and is not about any award, nor a TV program! Also
no connection with the United Nations or similar organisations. Well, now the answer must be quite obvious. More comments on Sunday.
Best wishes from your cruel webmaster.

Perhaps he's going to be given the Freedom of The City of New York? It will allow him to lead a herd of cats down 48th Street while wearing a tin hat, wooden clogs and a leather thong?

So what about his artwork - a touring exhibition, taking world venues, including, most importantly, somewhere in London like Tate Modern or the Hayward!

Well, then it is about another European leg of the tour, as I suggested earlier, after the Pacific and the North American will have finished. It is the only wonderful and absolutely positive thing left. No? (I mean apart form other wonderful things in Leonard's life that are irrelevant in this case).

Hey, hey, hey.

Tour date: Victoria, BC. Royal Theatre. March or April sometime when it's just gorgeous here. He MUST come back! I missed him in '92 in Edmonton.

Yeah, okay, specific time. What time is 7am Pacific in Helsinki? I know that Jarkko is really enjoying this guessing game.

I am just so excited beyond belief. A Western Canada tour is like a beautiful oasis in my desert world (Okay, the desert has some beautiful flowers, but they need to be constantly watered!)

Cheers,

Natalie
