I'm afraid a certain Mr Yeats has already monopolized the whole area,
all we are left with is a little corner of Lissadell "forever Leonard Cohen"
( although they might have added a direction sign on that pole for
"The Leonard Cohen Signature"
) ......

Carlowmike, the bench and the flowers in Lissadell sound lovely... It will be a lovely place for contemplation and reflection, in the spirit of all things Leonard...

As soon as we get the official announcement regarding the last Concerts,
I will check out fares, connections etc. and Post them here,
we can match prices.
Please understand, I never had a secret chart
to get me to the heart of this
or any other matter.............

Would have loved to make the unveiling; pity it's not on the weekend;

but will definitely make it there to have a look before Christmas. Once again, thanks for all the work on this Carlowmike.

I have never been involved in this type of fund-raising before and would appreciate advice but
in response to requests from many members
and to accommodate those of you who are eager to contribute to the cost of the Plaque,
I have consulted with Jarkko and Dick and
I have, with assistance from Forum member "trish", opened a Paypal account.
Yesterday as a test run, Trish sent me one euro using:
carlowmike@gmail.com
address.
I received notification that it had arrived in my account but there
was a 32 cent deduction fee
.
I have to find out if this deduction is per euro or per transaction.
Otherwise the only way to contribute may be to revert to the 20th century method of
Cheque / Money Order / Envelope / Stamp / Post Office and post to address below.
Whatever method we use, every contribution will be recorded on this thread and acknowledged.
I believe the costs associated with the Granite Plaque will be approx. 500 euro,
(I will know total amount later this week).
I think it might be a good idea if I request a 10 euro donation
from any member who wishes to participate in this.
If a contributor wishes to remain anonymous I will use "a code" i.e. first letters of their street address to acknowledge
or use just their Forum name.
I should at this stage acknowledge 3 contributions received to date.
100 dollars ( 75 euro) from a person (non-member) in New York who wishes to remain anonymous (UES).
20 euro from Jean Casey, " jeney" Maynooth, Kildare.
10 euro from anonymous, (SKC).
If the total amount collected exceeds the cost of Plaque, the excess will be donated to
The Holy Angels Day Care Centre in Carlow. (A centre for children with special needs).
The postal address for contributions is:
Michael Purcell, P.C.
Holy Angels Day Care Centre,
Carlow,
Ireland.
please feel free to comment or advise
