well done marisha....
.......what with the yorkshire whipper, the matlock marauder and now marisha we do seem to have more than our fair share of imaginative and witty scribes on this thread......
......i'm usually in greece by now but because of a family wedding on the 19th. i'm stuck here in liverpool for the time being with plenty of time on my hands....so to help pass the time until i can get the hell outta here i have decided to lower the tone and have devised a little quiz
.....it's not quite up to the standard of one of jarkko's little brain teasers....i haven't the cunning nor have i had the practice he has had in these matters....
......i have a little memento/souvenir call it what you may of our time in Barmouth...it's been sitting in my memory box for a while now but i thought for the sake of presentation and to keep it protected from the other items in my memory box i would find it a little box of it's own...so i had the brain wave that a matchbox would be the ideal solution....wasn't even sure they made them anymore but apparently they do and so today at the great expense of 16p. i bought a box.....so to show that everything is above board and there is no trickery whatsoever i photographed the whole operation........
....image 1 shows me preparing the box for my little memento/souvenir
....image 2 shows the box with the aforementioned memento/souvenir safely stowed inside
QUESTION.....what's in the box?
and this time there is a prize!!!!!!
....my current favourite listening.....a rather excellent audience recording of Leonard's 18 april 1988 amsterdam show...complete with liverpool-made artwork..............

Ken
My guess is that it is a little stone or pebble from the top of Snowdon

Pete you beat me to my guess. I took a stone home with me so that was my first thought. Well let me think then, is it a guitar plectrum from one of our troubadours?
How many things can fit in a match box?
Welcome to our thread Marisha.... great poem!

Welcome to our thread Marisha.... great poem!
Bernadine... so if you took a stone off Snowdon that means that Snowdon isn't as tall as it used to be..they will have to rewrite the geography books!!!!
Really enjoying the poems from Phil, and now Marisha

Oh my word, we have been infiltrated.
Ken I must say I do like your picture with all the smilies falling out of your computer.
In the matchbox must be the coat hanger you didn't nick, as per the instructions in your landlady's poem. That's why it's empty.
It's not the remains of your blisters is it? Ugh. If so, I'd put it in for the Turner Prize.

....and i've got to go through the whole process again next spring when they pull down my beloved liverpool everyman theatre along with MY seat C6

If it was not the coat hanger, was it the notice on your wardrobe about stealing them? i can fold paper really tiny and get it to fit in a match box
Marisha, you are lowering the tone of this thread, you are very clever and very funny but your poetry lacks heart.

I removed all my poetry because it lacked heart. I left it in some Happy Shopper Matchbox and haven't seen it since.

a clue for 'what's in the box'...which on this thread can surely only be given through the medium of the rhyme......
they say lord byron used to curse
his birth defect which made him lame
and surely his was nothing worse
than mine since mine is just the same
except his foot was lame you know
with me it was my poor big toe

Marisha
Just a little something to echo Tinderella's apology
Heart with some compassion
I greet you from the other side
Of sorrow and despair
With your love so vast and shattered
From our critique unfair
And I sing this for Barmouthians
Whose quips your anger built
For the smothered wrong conclusions
That leads to painful guilt
For your heart has true compassion
That to this thread you bring
To the forums prima donnas
Who will read most anything
Through our days of shame that are coming
From our nights of wild distress
Tho our promise counts for nothing
We will keep it none the less
I greet you from the other side
Of sorrow and despair
With your love so vast and shattered
From our critique unfair

I really hope it isn't a toe nail. No one would keep a toe nail as a memento...surely not???!!!
