It seems that "Old Ideas" is really a
new "old idea"!!
I've almost finished reading Anthony Reynolds book on LC "A Remarkable Life" when this bit grabbed my attention on page 267:
the original title of the Dear Heather record was to be "Old Ideas"
....as they say...an oldie but a goodie!
I'm so excited I think I'll join Stamatina in that glass of wine

This is such good news to hear! And I'm glad that The Darkness will be included, it was my favourite too from the last tour, though I'm a bit sad that the sly humour of Feels So Good will not be on it. I think I will stick my head over the parapet and join Arlene in saying that I was not so keen on Born in Chains either, though I know it was a great favourite with many. And I can't wait to hear all the new material!
And the hint of another album to follow - Mr Cohen you are spoiling us

Great news, I hope the marvellous touring band in 2008-10 will be on the album, including great Mr. Javier Mas...

Jarkko,
Not to be too nosy, but do you know if any of the other songs that were works in progress such as "The Street" are included on this album?
Like everyone else, I am thrilled that it is finished and scheduled for release. Wonderful news!

Well, we know Dino must be part of the album, from his facebook photo with Leonard in the studio...
I hope Javier is in the album, too!

Oh, great!
I've been told that Mas is in the album even as a co-songwriter of some of the songs, which, if its right, sounds really amazing... Cohen-Mas songs on the way? Wow... Let's wait....

I knew a new album was coming. I certainly figure a tour will follow/coincide with the release to promote the new album. These are reasons alone to celebrate.
What really got my attention was reading that an album thereafter could be. Spring 2012 cannot get here fast enough.

Is there any indication that Leonard has been working on both albums at once?

The other new songs, such as Born in Chains, will be on the next album, G-d willing
"The next album" refers here to a subsequent album
after Old Ideas!
'feels so good' to come here and read that, Jarkko. Thanks!

The title can be a
triple entendre:
1) "Old ideas"=speaking of the age of the songs' author?
2) "Old ideas"=speaking of material that has been in his notebooks for quite a long time in one form or another?
3) "Old ideas"=speaking of ancient themes, for example from the Bible and Eastern wisdom traditions?
Leonard has always worked with words on so many levels
What great news on the official confirmation of this upcoming album!
