This is only for members who have joined before March 1, 2008 (or have participated in our Events).

I have been informed that there are one or two members who have tickets to The Beacon, but for their own
reasons they will not make it to New York.

They want these tickets to be bought by long-time forum members so that the most active will be privileged. I promised
to forward any requests. Those tickets will naturally be sold at face value + Ticketmaster's original fee.
Any member who'd be interested should email me at ja@nebula.fi (no PMs please!). I will forward the email to the
owner of the ticket.

That really is a wonderful gesture Jarkko....
I just wish I was one of the lucky people that could take up the offer, but anyways, I was lucky to see Leonard a lot last year and hopefully will see him again on the road this year.

I am going to shock everyone - I'd also love to get 2 tickets
Want to go with a beautiful girl to the concert, but alas the college days weren't so long ago and the $350 + per ticket is killing me. But one can hope... ;-)

I've been a Leonard Cohen fan since the late seventies when I was hitchhiking through Europe when his "New Skin for the Old Ceremony" albums were in record shops. I've never had the opportunity to see the man, although I know all his songs and have all his recordings.

I live in Philadelphia, and would be very grateful for the opportunity to finally see the master. Please contact me at rgraffhome[at]gmail.com or via the ways here.

With hope and gratitude,

Rob

[quote="jarkko"]This is only for members who have joined before March 1, 2008 (or have participated in our Events).

Firstly, I am unable to attend the New York concert for many reasons mostly financial so the ticket offer doesn't apply to me.

I just wanted to comment on the specification that the offer only applied to members who joined before 1/3/08. We only joined in August 2008 but have been looking at the site for a long time before that. I have been a fan for over 40 years & John for over 30 years & we have been going to see Leonard in concerts since 1976. We haven't participated (yet) in events organised by this excellent website but we have travelled to 'meetings' which were organised by the Amsterdam group Intensity & we were at a 'gathering' in Lincoln in 1998 where we met briefly you & your wife, Jim Devlin & others. I remember John Etherington winning the quiz.

So my point is that if i had desperately wanted a ticket to this concert I would have been devastated not to qualify as I count myself as being one of Leonard's biggest fans.

jill,

I think Jarkkos message would have covered you anyway as he said ....or participated in our events He was doing his best to follow another members request to make sure the tickets went to long time fans.

Myself, I cannot afford the trip to New York even if I might manage the cost of a ticket itself :(

Margaret, thank you.

Yes I am afraid New York was simply unaffordable after the expense of 2008.
But I am hoping to see Leonard again somewhere in 2009.

Jill, those restrictions were set to eliminate the risk that scalpers - some of them may have joined during the tour - would get more tickets from our kind-hearted members. The owners of the tickets wanted to be sure that only genuine fans will get a chance. Also, it is always good to give priority to old-timers who have been on the board for long time, in some way. Of course you had qualified, too, as an Event goer, and contributions sent in for the websites would count, too.
--- I'm sure everybody understands that if you have been asked to find good homes for, let's say, 5 tickets, and there are hundreds of genuine fans looking for them, some criterion has to be decided!

We may still have some tickets - after I posted my announcement in this thread, some other members with extra ticket(s) have contacted me. They want to sell the tickets at face value (+ticketmaster's original fee) to true fans. Waiting to hear from members who are in desperate need (see my previous message on this page). If you qualify, I will forward your emails to members who've got the tickets.

Jarkko, thanks for that. I will stop calling you 'Cruel Jarkko'!

I didn't actually want tickets for New York (sadly unaffordable). I was just concerned that the same thing might happen for tickets in the future somewhere in Europe which I would desperately want.

Thank you

Would someone sell a ticket to me for the show? I'm only looking for 1 or 2. I was unaware of the pre-sale. Argh.
Thanks so very much.
