I think it is right to ban glass - it's a safety issue and a pain to clean up.
But banning picnics/alcohol generally sounds like is just to protect the profits of the caterers. Surely they should be encouraging people to arrive early, bring a picnic and make the most of the great location?
If it turns out to be possible to get a decent plate of food for €5-7, with minimal queues (as was the case at the Festival of World Cultures in Dun Laoighre last w/e, with a similar size crowd), then I will take it all back.

I do hope the arrangements are better than those at Weybridge last year, where one had to queue for an hour to get a drink, and pity the poor souls who wanted to use the toilets during the interval!

Met with the "ambassadors" today in Sligo,
they are all primed and ready for action.
Here is a reminder of their role:
several organizations including the "Coming Together for Sligo" committee have promoted a recruitment drive for volunteers to act as "ambassadors" during the Concert weekend .
This idea was first mentioned by Forum member "jeney" as a suggestion for carlowmike to bring to the "Coming Together for Sligo" meeting in June, thank you jeney .
Ambassadors will operate at various spots around Sligo town and assist visitors.
Both the volunteers and front line business staff have received training,
the "ambassadors" will be clearly identifiable on the streets, they will be placed in key locations around Sligo town.
Several training sessions for volunteers have taken place and businesses have availed of the opportunity to have their staff informed and updated of relevant details pertinent to the Concerts and also be knowledgeable on other aspects relating to Sligo.
It is arranged that hotels will provide volunteers with meals over the weekend

Let's hope the early comers don't drink Sligo dry before the rest of us arrive on Saturday! Weather is looking good for Sunday but there might be the odd shower on Saturday. I'm still optimistic that the showers will be gone by evening time. It might be cool though, so bring warm clothing!
