Leonard Cohen is one
So are you

Look in the mirror, mate

He had to look under the mask first. Not sure that he can. Right now. Do you know that it is a kind of torture to want people to be deep to please us? It is like a kind or drawning. People can lack of oxygene. Go easy Boss. may I suggest that you ask nicely without being heavy? Like if you were in search for Truth and Beauty. On the other hand, he has the finger of the button "delete" and you don't. Joke. Of course.

It is a fan club here, not a cathédrale, a moské, a synagogue, a, a, field under the moonlight, a buddhist temple, monastery, a Shiva Center for mediation, a, a, a, . After all. I Love you Boss. Still.

OK Lecture done for today, let's pass to serious matter.

Tom, how nice picture, I hope Diane will appreciate. But it is not this one. It is one I did bring here once. I asked her to ask you when she first asked me because I lost it, I don't know if she did, it was a few weeks ago. It is suppose to be somewhere in this forum, but I can't find it.

There are many pictures of Leonard sitting like this (there are two more on Speaking Cohen archive), but I guess you think on the "real" zazen picture (Zen monk robes, closed eyes, hands in the position of "om"). That image is seen much in Spring 96 documentary, but I also remember the picture, but can't recall where from. I think there are few on the last pages of In His Own Words.

Thank you, Adam. I really think the life is better achievement if you have strenght to look the life and world in that way (your way), than let yourself to start believe we're not everyday heroes.

Adam ben Meyer, you mixed my computer - Do you want me to go my way or your way? :? Doesn't matter, still Love you Boss, like on the first encounter he, he. We sure can find a way to be ourselves and coping with others and their differences too. I do believe this, yes. 'Cause I'm a believer.... la la la la

Great answer Tom. I appreciate. Thank you very much. Yes it is this one. Great one too. And again GREAT PIC. I'm sure Diane appreciates this one as well, if not better. Well, almost sure.

"The difference between melancholy and depression? Melancholy is playing a Leonard Cohen record. Depression is when it's the only one you own."

- Me (Gina Waggott), doing a show on my Uni station, Bailrigg FM

(then plagiarised to an extent in an edition of Metro, I believe!)

I have a slight alternation for that one...

Melancholy is playing a Leonard Cohen record. Depression is when it ends.

[I guess we're running low on artist/celebrity quotes here?]

Oops, only just checked back here.
Adrienne Clarkson is such a great lady! I am almost sure that you would like her complete bio. also, Diane.
She sure seems to be. I imagine I would. I just checked the CBC archives and her tribute ain't there. It is good to play the old interviews with Leonard on there though.

No it wasn't that pic, but thanks Tom, and Tchoc. Oh, I do appreciate, believe me. Muchas gracias.

Adam, I can see you point and agree with you that everyone should dance to the beat of their own drum (one of my favorite lines), but I also agree with Lizzy and Judith. People who have achieved a certain level of mastery in their fields are offering their gifts to everyone else. We can chose to accept their gifts or turn them down. The greatest gift that one person can give to another is to teach them something meaningful. By accepting the gift, we don’t have to subsume ourselves. We can use what we have learned from them to create our own gifts and pass them on. Passing on a gift is the greatest compliment one can give to the original giver. A continuous circle of creating beauty in life.

Just by writing about this issue your gift has been to remind us to be ourselves.

Thank you for that.

I enjoy your poetry, by the way.

Take care,
Sherry

Dear Sherry ~

You have said it so absolutely so well.

The process you have described is the one many have experienced and others have watched happen and everyone has appreciated and benefited by it all.

Thank you for your apt, fitting, and beautiful description of it. Here's to Leonard... 8)

Al Purdy: "Well, I admire Cohen a great deal. Having no voice whatever, his voice sounds great. A bit like Margaret Atwood, I've always thought. When I first heard him sing "Suzanne" by the river in Montreal, girls passed out a mile from where his voice was decibelling."
From: "Take this Waltz", 1994.
But of course you know that one.

Hi Sakuntala ~

I've never seen or heard this one and I dearly love this portion:
When I first heard him sing "Suzanne" by the river in Montreal, girls passed out a mile from where his voice was decibelling.
Thanks!
