After an tax-audit on Hydra the inspectors had to hide themselves in the police station, to protect themselves from some angry people on the isle.

Chasing tax inspectors and listening to Henning in good company looks like a plan to me...

Hi Dani! Thank you for thinking about me, it really warmed up my evening a bit.

It would be really nice to meet again, but I really don't think I can come to Hydra next year.

Well, it is still a long time away, so we will see.

Hi. I really want to come to Hydra. And I am thinking I am going to be in Italy celebrating a big birthday, so why not take the ferry to Piraeus, hence to Hydra? So I have spent the last hour looking at accommodations. Not having any information on where other people are staying, I booked a place that was on sale half price, with no cancellation fee if done by 21 days in advance. The deal was so good I booked 2 rooms. It is the Botsis Guest House close to the port. Four days, for 2 people is $250US!
But I couldn't find out anything about beaches there. And the photos of last Hydra event doesn't show any beach shots.
So I would like to hear from people who've been. 1) Do you try to stay in close proximity to one another? 2) If so, where? 3) Are there any swimming beaches, ie, not rocky? Thanks.

Hydra is not a typical mass tourism destination with beautiful beaches. The nearest beach Kamini has a lot of stones (you will need swimming shoes).
Mandraki and Vlychos, both in walking distance, have sandy areas but with some stones. The best beaches are on the other side of the island, you may get there by water taxi.-
The city of Hydra is so small that it does not matter which hotel you take - all are so close to each other, and also close to the harbour (some hundred meters only).
Botsis Guest House has been used by many members. Most hotels are small (5-10 rooms) and family operated. The price you mentioned is typical for small hotels and pensions.
Some also offer breakfast at small extra cost.

After spending a wonderful week on Hydra last time, I was so sure I would be there for the next one as well. But things happen and I'm 10.000 km away, while very happy for the opportunity to be in Japan, already dreading the coming summer as the conditions make practically impossible for me to leave even temporarily before the next december. No Hydra, no Summer Tour in Europe. Can feel my tears gathering up.
