I have spoken to the general manager of The Garavouge today,

He has designated the Premises as the Leonard Cohen Forum HQ for the weekend.

(he has extended invitation to Leonard to pop in for a "on-the-house" drink or, and meal.

He tells me that the premises holds about 800 people.

The Library Bar section will be reserved for Cohenite visitors who will be travelling from all
over the world for the Concert and for long-term members of the Forum who need to seek out friends
from previous meet-ups.

To my knowledge people are coming especially for this Concert from Israel, Australia, Canada, United States,
and all over Europe. Some are arriving the day before and leaving the day after !!.

There is a car park nearby. We are trying to arrange for some buses to use the Venue as a pick-up point
and return journey.

I have contacted two entainers , singer / songsmith, Colm Lynch, from Dublin and
Gala Hutton, singer/songsmith from Carlow, Colm, I hope, will provide entertainment
on the Saturday and Gala on the Sunday.
Both of them may be viewed on youtube .
All this information will be repeated when we get a Thread established "Sligo Concert Arrangments.

As I said in previous posting I will be in Sligo soon and finalise a few other items.

Wow, Carlowmike, you are playing a blinder.
Thanks for making such an effort, it will make a special event even more memorable, especially for visitors.
If there is anything you need help with...you will have a lot of willing collaborators.
Just ask.

Hi I have only just joined the forum but was wondering if everyone was welcome to the pre-concert activities organised on the Saturday and Sunday? This is my 3rd year in a row bringing my mum to see the great man and her biggest surprise over the last few years is the amount of fans there are, she never knew anyone else personally who loved him like she did so she would really enjoy meeting up with everyone! :?:

As Cohenites you and your mum are off course welcome to the pre-concert activities. I think your mum is in for the time of her life!!

Look forward to meeting you both.

Can I suggest the setting up of a dedicated Sligo meetup thread? :D

Looks like I am going to be stuck with my six Saturday tickets then. My mail has not been buzzing with interested parties and if there is another block of tickets on sale . . .
A dedicated Sligo meetup thread is a good idea for sure.

Hello - I am a new recruit here at the forum, though I have been a life-long fan of the great man, and am celebrating today the long-awaited arrival of an e-mail from Mr Leonard Cohen's personal assistant confirming that a letter and gift that I sent him over a year ago has been delivered to him! Wow, I am so happy. Am looking so forward to Lissadell but am slightly anxious as to arrangements regarding parking and transport etc...we are travelling from Wexford and just not sure whether to drive straight to Lissadell or what...if anyone has definitive info on same please share it with me so that I can get some sleep before the big night! :) Thanks -Sharon

I've enclosed a link to some photos i took in Sligo today. The Garavogue is great and couldn't be any more central. Whoever chose the b&b opposite the entrance to Lissadell House was very clever.I can only assume that most people will have to be bussed in- it's a really beautiful area.

Sandra,

Thank you for those stunning photos! Got a kick out of the close up of the Preacher's Son poster and the enticing description of this artist 8)
