Happy holidays and a happy new year to you, too... as we await Leonard's album and whatever news of it we may get as time passes.

Well done, Vicomte, I love your post, and I love the happy, natural photo of you with Leonard.

Lizzy, whoever you are, you seem to think you are Leonard's keeper. Fortunately,Leonard seems well able to make his own choices. So why should Musicmania be attacked for making her own opportunity, if Tinderella is granted an "audience" ? It is up to Leonard to choose - he chooses well.

There is always an "inner circle" of fans who think they know best; as George Orwell (almost!) said, "all fans are equal, but some fans are more equal ( or think they are) than others."
Anyway, I'm off now to enjoy Christmas in Ireland. I may return here in the new year, but less and less so if the Idolators, mainly ladies from the US, take over this forum.
Well said!! What's funny is that some people who make themselves Leonard's keepers, exhibit the very obsessive behavior that Leonard needs to be shielded from. Perhaps they need to spend a little more time reading and really understanding Leonard's work, before blabbing on the virtues/desires/needs of a man they do not know or understand.

I did not have an' audience' with Leonard Cohen

I am just a genuine admirer of his words and music who was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and grabbed the opportunity to meet him.

I had a great time and I am not saying that in a gloating way.

He loves to meet people who have supported him over the years and I was able to thank him personally so that was special for me

That's all

Well said Scubasam also.................... Christmas Eve.... nite nite and have a great one folks!

the only question here is about security, NOT the Woman
It's about both, Vicomte...
and you'll be glad to know that's all the more I'm going to be saying about it.

Hopefully, some more personal reviews of these two, final shows will be showing up in this thread.

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas, everyone.

Hey everybody.. Happy Christmas! We've had a fantastic three years. I still can't believe it - after so many years' wait. As we go into the new year we must have enough footage - videos, photos and memories - to last us a lifetime. Not to mention the prospect of the new album :) I can still remember the long-awaited release of Ten New Songs.. ahhh!

As we close out the year at Christmastime ("Goodnight my darlin'.....") I can safely say that I am satisfied. And if I never ever see Leonard Cohen at a concert again I feel so fulfilled that I had even just that first opportunity at Kilmainham in 2008.

I'm delighted for all the people who have met Leonard (including Gwen and Tinderella who had very special moments) and for those people who want to meet him but just haven't happened to be in the right place at the right time yet, I say you never know what's around the corner.

Glad you made it home and found your car ok Willy and Wybe!

Best wishes to all, it's been wonderful meeting so many great people over the three years. Including some really lovely kind, genuine and fun ladies from the US that I got to know quite well and who I hope to remain friends with for a long time.

Viva Las Vegas! The year's gone out with a bang :) Now I need to get to bed before Santa comes. Night night all, it's been amazing :)

Last but not least - a big thanks to Jarkko who made it all happen... Sending you and Eija the very best of wishes for Christmas and hope all our paths will cross again soon. XXXXX

Hi Trish ~

And as I read your warm posting, I'm hearing what sounds like a children's choir sing Leonard's "Hallelujah" as background to a segment about men in the U.K. who raise other men's children as their own... with something in there, too, about Mary and Joseph and his having been banned by his own family for her having already been pregnant. Wasn't able to put the whole segment together in my head, but several times I heard strains of "Hallelujah," with the final time just now.

How often I've thought over these last three years of the conciliatory words we've given to newcomers to the Forum who spoke of how much they would love to see Leonard perform live and asked when they might see Leonard tour again. How much I hope that every one of those who ever asked were finally able to see him at some venue along the way.

How could we possibly not be satisfied. Only greed would keep us from not feeling so. May we all meet at some concert in the future and, if not, may our dear memories always remain deep in our hearts.

Merry Christmas to you.

Hi Friends,

I am one of the fairly new members to the Forum and never thought I would get chance to actually see a live
Concert. I was so happy to be able to do so in L.Vegas. When I listen to the concerts old and new I can see Leonard, singing these great songs. How he moves and how he gives his feelings to the words he is singing.

Every concert (the 2008/9/10) tour is basically the same, but that is what makes them special, as you can see what you saw while at the concert you attended. I just realized that tonight while listening to a 2008 concert. It really is fantastic. Thanks to everyone involved with these concerts and letting us have access to them.

Hopefully everyone will settle down now and enjoy what we have had. Who knows what is in the future.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

I was curious to find an ooooold posting regarding whether Leonard would tour again. Didn't enter enough words, but did find this one, where my comments based on my memories of having seen him in 1976 held true to seeing him again in Las Vegas and venues earlier during this three-year tour:

Hi Glyn,

"Melodic punk" ~ sounds almost oxymoronic doesn't it, but then "Live recording" holds up and, besides, I've heard punk that's like that, and liked it. Haven't ever put down that hard-earned dollar for any, but I would be interested in who they are and what they sound like. So, Good Riddance is one of their albums? America is big and wide and relatively tall and we seem to have in one form or another, a bit of everything. In earlier years, my music listening was broader, so I covered more ground and had greater familiarity. Now, I focus on what I already like and NPR. So, if it doesn't come within those, or I don't come upon it serendipitously [still do manage to do that, like at times like these], then likely I haven't even heard of it/him/her/them.

Yes, I agree that when you see Leonard on a stage, he appears totally absorbed in what he's doing. There's a certain bliss in that. How he feels at this point about motivating himself to take the stage may be a different matter. Only one thing is certain. Once he's there, he's totally there, fully in the present and committed to sharing himself, as much as is humanly possible ~ with dignity and class ~ through his music and song. Viewing his concerts is mesmerizing.

I'll send you my address and see what I can learn. Thanks.

I'm so happy that you got to see him, too, Cheshire gal :D .
I like your perspective on the continuity between Leonard's concerts, too.
It gives an element of ritual to them, like recitations in the temple.

Hello Lizzy,

Yes it is like a ritual and I think we all really like that. It is soothing to know what is happening and what is to come. I absolutely loved the concerts and wish I had not missed all the past years of Leonards concerts. However, I am making up for that as I try to find everything I have missed in the past. 'I cannot get enough' :D

He is the greatest.

Hi Marie ~

Yes, there is that element of knowing what is coming next, with some additions, some subtractions; yet overall within a form of soothing familiarity... a moving meditation of sight and sound, with emotion and thought.

In 1976, I saw him and indelibly so... yet, missed all the concerts in between until I saw him for the first time, again, at Joe's Pub in NYC, when he accompanied Anjani for Blue Alert... such a surprize for him was his greeting there 8) !

'I cannot get enough' :D ~ so true :D .

Indeed, he is the greatest.

This is to give grannypoe/Pat a very special thanks for the extraordinary and thoughtful measures she took on behalf of a number of us! Checking out places for gathering, and opening her home to UPS deliveries and her car for their final leg of transport. So many things could not have been done without her!! And a very sweet woman to meet 8) .

Thank you, Pat/grannypoe :D !!!

Greetings from a very cold Christmas morning in Ireland! Loving reading over the last few posts here. What an amazing journey we have all had over the last few years. My own journey only began in '09 but that was only because I hadn't discovered the forum in '08 and couldn't get tickets for the Kilmainham concerts as they were sold out when I found out about them. The utter joy then when Leonard came back to Dublin and I witnessed his magic for the 1st time. Being someone who lives for music and having attended many many concerts nothing prepared me for the effect of seeing Leonard live. I don't need to go into why as you all know why as we all feel the same. Then came Lissadell this year where then I truly felt it was going to be my final chance to see Leonard live in concert. The effect of that concert though transcended everything for me and while I'll never say never it will be very hard to top that concert for me. Having never being out of Ireland and only actually getting a passport as a gift from my 3 closet friends for my birthday just before the Lissadell concerts and having the chance I just knew I had to see Leonard again so it was off on my first excursion out of Ireland solo to Poland for the Katowice concert which has very special memories for me too which I've already shared those so won't bore you again. As someone who leads a busy life it was on some rare downtime that the idea for Vegas came to mind. I'm still processing that wonderful trip in my mind and those moments, those precious moments spent with Leonard will live in my heart forever. While I've had some personal heartache and in some ways this has being a very difficult year I still regard it as the best year of my life and the moments with Leonard most definitely the best moments of my life. This year has thought me that dreams can come true and also to never say never and that there is always hope. I look forward to the future and the forthcoming album and if another tour happens it will be amazing but I am very very grateful for what we have received and I cherish all these moments.
I want to say a massive thanks to anyone who captured videos at these amazing concerts and also for the people who recorded the concerts especially the recording of the final concert where the quality is amazing and even after many listens I'm still in floods of tears. I truly hold dear the fact that we can relive these magical times. Also thanks to everyone who organised meet-ups everywhere, of course to Jarkko and the moderators for all their work here. Finally but most definitely not least, thank you Leonard, for everything xxx
