I would imagine 99% of people would have sorted out their travel and accomodation by now, given that the concert date is now only a month away
Are any people planning on travelling to Lille anyway, even if the concert doesnt happen, so that non-refundable travel/accomodation is not completely wasted?

simple really

It has already been stated a few times that the announcement does not concern new dates, unfortunately.

I disagree. I believe the decision was made a long time ago. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the fact that a WORLD TOUR is supposedly starting in LESS THAN A MONTH and yet ONLY 8 OR 9 CONCERTS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED clearly indicates a decision has been made to cancel/postpone said tour. These dates were announced about three months ago, and yet nothing has been announced since. If this tour really was starting in March, we'd almost certainly have concerts already announced and on sale for April and May, and yet more announced (if not on sale) for June and July. World tour dates are announced months, sometimes even a whole year in advance. That list of nine concerts clearly ISN'T a World Tour, and almost certainly not (financially and/or logistically) worth the hassle of transporting everything and everyone across the Atlantic for.
The tour rescheduled for autumn, with existing venues included (original tickets valid or full refund given if preferred) is far and away the most likely 'announcement', in my view.

More from Patrice on the French forum, I hesitate to post it here. If what he says is true, and this is because the tour organisers are not satisfied with the schedule and and want to restructure it, it is beyond belief!

Well, don't hesitate.

If the comment by "something crazy" is even partially correct then AEG have a lot of explaining to do. Do they really believe that fans, and incidentally they ARE the people who ultimately pay their wages, deserve to be treated thus? I would have thought that Leonard's personal management team would have a few words to say on this matter as well. When someone cares for his audience as much as Leonard Cohen does, it is beyond belief that tour organisers can "betray" him in such a callous manner.

If this is the case, and AEG are cancelling/rescheduling because the March dates no longer suit them, i'll have to seriously think about whether i'd be able to justify going to a rescheduled show later in the year.
Oh how I hate moral dilemmas...

Here's what he says:

Yes, I have just read that and it would seem appropriate to put the main part here, as it is available to all on the WWW anyway but it doesn't show AEG ina very good light but we have to wait and see just how true all this is. At least, going by this, it appears to veers away from any health problems with Leonard but as has been said on numerous occasions, we simply have to wait and see. I bet dear Jarkko is pulling his hair out
.............the e-mail (and confidential!) was not addressed to me but it was shown to me in integrity.
To summarize: the organizers of AEG were not satisfied with planning (however it was made by them!) and want to rebuild it or restructure by keeping a majority of cities but at later dates implying the cancellation of the dates of March. Me, I would have spoken about delay rather than of cancellation, but it was well “cancelled”. Of course, Jarkko and I asked for details and in vain to date.

Won't we all? If favourable public opinion counts for anything, this isn't going to do a rescheduled tour
any good...

Given the information from Vicomte I repeat my message of earlier but this time with an added last sentence

If this does prove to be the case maybe all Forum members should email AEG to express their disgust at the manner in which fans have been treated and the way the tour organisers have betrayed Leonard Cohen.

I totally agree (with something crazy above). If this tour is rescheduled, then this is bound to affect ticket sales of any future tour & also damage Leonard's reputation.

Mydoglorca
I cannot believe that Leonard's reputation will or should suffer. He will NOT have been party to the callous manner in which AEG are treating his fans. I know it is easy to over-react given that we do not know the full circumstances yet but once more I repeat:-
If this (re-arrangement/cancellation) does prove to be the case maybe all Forum members should email AEG to express their disgust at the manner in which fans have been treated and the way the tour organisers have betrayed Leonard Cohen.

I think what Mydoglorca was getting at, as was I, is that if this proves to be the case, it will surely have a negative effect on any rescheduled dates. People might think twice about committing the second time around.
