Byron~

When I was a kid (just a couple of years ago) it was called: Dibs.
You have 'dibs' on the position. You DID "call it" first 8)

Is there a pesky fly in here?

Anyways, it's yours far as I can tell........

cheers,
L

Nudge, nudge... no hole in sight, save a couple in the usual locations... nothing new. Much tired. Much blue. Best of luck breaking the rules.

Yes... there is a pesky fly in here, in fact. Whack.

California officially adds it support to the Byron Bagsy. There is no higher authority than a bagsy (or even a dibs) and under no circumstances can it be taken away. The motion is carried.

Diane, while I'm here, would you mind adding my name to the list under Dar's for the Tour? As the OFB (bartender) on another site, I shall focus my efforts there. Dar, I'll pour while you roll 'em.

Oh, good. 3:0 ~ It's a lonely ballot, but without any other contenders for the position, you're a shoe-in, Byron. [I presume you've voted for yourself in that vote count]. So, it's a done deal. Sorted. Just don't rely on 'precedent.' It's not reliable. Research. Congratulations and enjoy.

As for me... Sorted. I've said more than I needed to say and all that I'm going to say.

...drinks and smoke? No pesky flies...What am I thinking?

Bagsy? That's a new one for me.
I do recall : "blackblack no takes back" was a powerful childhood charm 8)

"I bagsy being in goal..."
Gilbert O Sullivan in the truly superb song "We Will."
Possibly one of the most under rated lyrics in the history of songwriting.

What is a shoe-in? Anyone can tell me.
I never vote for myself because I know myself TOO well.
2 votes are better than none.
I asked first that, if there was a job of that type going, that I be considered as the first contender.

By the way, we say "dibs" and "bagsy," still.

"SHOE IN: A race horse so fast that you can merely shoo it across the finish line rather than having to urge it on with stronger measures is a “shoo-in”: an easy winner. It is particularly unfortunate when this expression is misspelled “shoe-in” because to “shoehorn” something in is to squeeze it in with great difficulty. "

NOW!

I don't stand over this. Sounds unlikely but http://www.wsu.edu says so.

Poppy~ Finding out the nexus of those olde maxims can be so interesting. Unfortunately, not so much in this case (Hahahaha).

I'll make it up to you by saying that I'm enjoying your book (that someone around here recommended to me).
It doesn't suck.

You can take a horse to water but you can't make it win the Grand National. Somewhere between the water and the National is a very tenuous link that may be mildly interesting too. I could attempt to tease out the link for you but my medication is about to reach the end of its allotted time, which means that 'they' will be squeezing through the cracks in the window frame in order to abduct me to the 'Mother Ship,' AGAIN! It's costing me a fortune in Germoloids to ease the reapacushions as my spell checker winds slow l y d o wn.

Bugger! Out of rechargeable tablets again. I can see the Ship. They're here early tonight. They'll be even earlier next week. The clocks go back.

It's OK. They only wanted to know where they could get tickets for the tour. I redirected them to someone. There'll be no problem about them getting tickets, but at least they'll be 'interror gatoring' someone else for a change. My spoon chuckit needs reboating agen. Back in a mo...

Click, clack, click, conk, crudlrudlrudl.....crunk!

That's better, all fixed. If anyone wants me I'll be in the thread about 'Lost Purpose in Life,' where we're discussing the meaning of loss and how it effects one's balance in keeping a hold on what is personally important after any sort of meaningful Loss.
