beware my dear friends of poetic ambition
it's one slip of fate that will change our condition
we'll all end up then in a public position
with each lonely face on its own television

 I like it, Manna.

Speaking of multiples, Michael. I'm curious... is walking through your home similar to walking through a department store's electronics section, with every TV turned to the same channel, for continuity of sound or lest you lose a minute of a broadcast? Or, is each one for all the individual tastes of your family members, relatives, and friends, and pets's friends? Have you some made-for-doggie-tv videos on repeat play?

I think the guy was a little shocked when he asked how many TV's in the house (each set must send its own signal) and I told him 9!! How embarrassing.

I think this is amusing that you share your embarrassing with us here.

most department stores have a tv section. I don't have that. just a Giant plasma in the lounge, a bloody great (one under Giant) plasma in the office, a flat screen in each of the first 4 bedrooms, one in the kids' playroom, one in the gym, and one in the kitchen. all have satellite and I currently watch the following series, Boston Legal, Entourage and Sponge Bob Square Pants.

but if I have them each on to the same station for a particularly obscure crap programme in the middle of the night I could rig the National Viewing figures, POWER!!

All that for 3 programs  ? Michael... that seems excessive and expensive. Do you ever listen to the radio... or is there a tv in the car that you're holding back about telling us? What about Doggie Catch the Ball?

Jubilant Jimmy hands on winning rosette to.....

Manna for lifetime achievement......

Martineting Morgans are hereby excluded from lifetime achievement awards on the basis of composite conventionality and misapplied metrification of poesy.

 I've also heard that during buying frenzies, there are lapses of consciousness. The mind just goes...

Which one d'ya suppose snuck out at night to the car? Or does it have the upgrade, reproduction-protection feature?

Martineting Morgans
I'm Martineting, but I'm not a Morgan. Does this mean I might qualify for a Next Lifetime Achievement Award? If my strings become tangled and non-functional by then?

well, Pete- you beat me on speed. you are therfore disqualified for drug-taking. this is not the Marion Jones Poetry Memorial Race.

I also forget to mention the Rule that any poem must have at least 2 puns (wasted on Americans who probably don't know either type of "box").
Sorry, Michael. I wasn't aware of the rules or even the drug-taking. It won't happen again. I'll be more careful in the future.

Yes, this posting reminds me that I got completely distracted by the 'mericans and "box" puns comment, and totally bypassed mentioning that I really liked your poem, too, Pete 8) . Geez... what a diss can do... that is not as in Dish Network, either.

Empathy or provocation?

That is the question

I'm sure you'll be very brave and shoulder on.
I'm sure there are some hearing devices out there designed to screen out the painful sounds of spouses. Perhaps, you could bring some along, for all your friends to listen to the concert and conversation in peace.
That device is called marriage but Mickey can't marry us all.

 ... Though he may want to try  . I'm confident he knows or can access the proper clauses to alleviate all financial responsibility. Of course, all the alleviation in the world may not be too much when he spots a man at the end of the aisle.
