Woah, Manna, being new here I don't have a clue who you're famous blue author is and I don't really care. I just recognised a line from an Ian Dury song and thought I would give a nod to it as a fellow Ian Dury fan. The whole limerick thing the Frank McCourt link was just a joke as Mr McCourt is from Limerick.

Don't ever be scared to post. I want to hear what you have to say. Sometimes whether I intend to or not, I inspire a rant. It's a gift, I think. There's a touch of hysteria around this evening - must be the full moon. All will be calm tomorrow. Unless I've just managed to impossibly annoy someone again.

Ian Dury fan? Great.
At risk of inspiring a rant, or anger, but what do you have against limericks? Is it because of Frank McCourt?
hey, Laura! I read a great book on Ian Dury this summer. He wasn't an angel but he remains a hero of mine.
I don't know who F M is. sounds like he used to play for Arsenal. If I wasn't so tired I would google him.
nothing agaisnt limericks but I think we should whisper about them even quieter than for parodies.
they're just so poetry-lite...

Dear mickey_one,
or Michael,

In acrostic speak I cannot dwell,
for verbs and nouns become unbound,
and one arrives where one can't tell,
the difference between a barking hound
and a clanging bell.

I cannot sit by and watch the degree of invective invectiveness, infect the morose edification of the effusive erudition of splat chucking in this thread any longer. It will not be calm on the morrow because the high front is drifting northwestwards towards Norway and the cold front is settling upon us like an old school rice pudding, meaning that the natives will be up early and restless as they await the arrival of the Daily Invect through the proportionally designed letter boxes.
Anyway I've said enough and my time is finished in here; pushing handle, standing up, washing hands and leaving window open.
Exits stage left pursued by a ferret. (The bear is on holiday)

Byron - you responded on cue.....it was you to whom I referred when I said I seemed to have the unwitting ability to incense certain people!! And the QC followed suit........gifted I am! See Joney - nothing to be apprehensive about!

Sorry RP - Got carried away there and now I've embarrassed both of us. That's what happens to me in the presence of famous writers.

mickey_one - gifted total bastard here to annoy you - have a distant recollection of you having an unhealthy association with ferrets, or perhaps that was a euphemism for 'weasel words'. The next exhibition at the Richard Goodall Gallery Underground (appropriately) might induce feelings of nostalgia - entitled 'The Business of Ferrets' it includes paintings, prints and ephemera (don't you just love that word? for a day Who would buy a ferret likeness that was going to last only a day?) Wikipedia, whose info should never be challenged, says that colonies of feral ferrets have established themselves in areas where there is no competition from similarly sized predators. Where was it you kept yours?

I know. And you probably know that a fiddler's fart is one of Frank McCourt's favourite things to not give. A memorable book, but not so much the movie. The whole "Michael, what's left of him" scene had me laughing so hard I thought I would puke. My whole "limerick" was a joke. I don't know who Ian is.
