(you know? at one time, the mods. didn't mod. and the best topics were off topic), I'm not a big fan of Glass - I find his work plodding and repetitive. But that's just me. Therefore, I've not yet gotten into BOL. Or Book of Mercy (BOM sounds too lame). I could read the books, but if I want to hear his recitation on BOL, I guess I'll have to put up with Glass, like it or not. I should make that a summer project. I liked Favourite Game as it was pretty much a straight ahead novel. All the twinkly mysticism and words of wisdom of his later books leave me a bit frustrated. I'd much rather hear him sing all those beautiful songs he wrote. I dearly hope he's hard at work on a new album (I don't log in often enough to know - I should look at the board), I did like the new song he did on the western leg of the North American tour. So much ground to cover! If it hadn't been for your post in this thread, I probably wouldn't have logged in for quite some time. The influx of newbies, has left me longing for the 'old' board - now I'm the newbie. And I'll look for that series you mentioned in YouTube - if it's on video (which you can download), I'm pretty sure the MP3 transformation is a possibility. Thanks for opening me eyes a wee bit. After seeing him, I thought my infatuation was over, but I guess not. I really must check out the current threads.

Agreed, best topics usually are off-topic. I can't say I'm a huge fan of Glass per se, but for what he does he is pretty damn good. I think Book of Mercy is wonderful and strikingly beautiful, though there is a good reason that Leonard turned to songwriting; while his poetry is incomparable, he wouldn't be where he is now without the music. I too have been waiting for the miracle of a new album (sorry, I had to...), since the rumor for it's release was in late 2007. I don't know if you have read the thread regarding the latest news on the 2010 tour but Jarkko confirmed that Leonard is indeed working on a new studio album, though we shouldn't expect it before the tour resumes in July. I really, reeeeally hope it's out sometime this year though. Here is the link for the 13 part series of the Beautiful Losers reading (the last part is him singing an early version of The Stranger Song) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCuEDbdS ... re=related

Nice talkin with ya!

would anyone, by chance, happen to have anymore details regarding this live version of The Stranger Song? perhaps where it was performed and when? I've been listening to it often this past week and I'm really struck by its vulnerability in comparison to the album version. the song has an entirely different vibe to it.
