Happy Birthday Leonard!

I'm sorry if I say just your name like we know eachother for long time, but I feel like that. There's a singer in spain (Joaquin Sabina) that made a song for you in his last CD, he is very famous in Spain like Luis Eduardo Aute that also wrote a song for you. It's nice to see that the singers I like admire's also the author I admire.

I wish you the best. Hope we can meet soon.

May you have a graceful delight of a wonderful birthday. You have been in my heart since I first heard Songs of Leonard Cohen in the 60s. I've been thrilled to see you at three concerts in the Bay Area, and I still remember the first one very well, in Berkeley, where you opened and closed with Bird on a Wire (your final encore of many, this at the end of your tour), and we the audience gave you a very long standing ovation that continued well after the crew began tearing down the stage. The ovation was well deserved.

I would love to see you in concert again and give several more long standing ovations.

Thank you for all your words.

Thankyou Jarkko for posting Leonard's address at one stage on this thread. I sent him a card that I hope will make it in time. That did look like a management address - I certainly hope Leonard will read the card himself...

Dear Mr Cohen,

it's hard to find the appropriate way of saying thank you to someone you never met personally, yet who's connected to so many determining moments of your life. I work as a theater director. Your songs gave me persistent inspiration whether it be stage, personal or just the everyday routine of getting by. They shared me different ways of dealing with cracks, how to live with or even use them. Thank you for all that. I wish you health and a very happy birthday.

Dear Leonard,

Here we are... all your old, loyal, and diehard friends straggling in one by one, road weary and bleary eyed, just so we can give you our birthday greetings. I don't know if you've reached the point yet of being glad another one has rolled around - I suspect there's a fine line with that... "Oh no, it's another birthday!" VS "Phew! I made it to another birthday!" I remember long dark nights when I was a little girl (no street lights where I used to live), I'd lie awake at night and think... "I hope I make it till Christmas."

Ain't life a hoot?

Happy Birthday, dear man... thanks for everything.
