Why yes, Pete. It has simply got to this: 8)

'Born to Run'
'Summer Holiday'
'Walking on Sunshine'
'My heart will go on'
'I'd like to teach the world to sing'
'Hit me with your best shot'
'Life is just a bowl of cherries'
"Would I lie to you'

This IS a fun thread. Who do I have to thank for starting it??

I was on at the same time and I didn't notice "image" despite the fact that I was a proof-reader at a newspaper for 12 years. And YdF didn't accuse Aslak of a faux pas. YdF called Aslak's hand on saying Steven's thread was stupid. I think everyone's past history with Young dr. Freud is coloring their perception on this thread.

Leonard should never cover: "Don't Hate Me Because I'm Right" (The Dontells)

Nan~

YdF DID have the typo that Aslak pointed out. I have been reading since about 5 or so and also am a 'detail' oriented type (see my tag line).

I honestly don't know what "history" with ydf you are talking about. But it is pointless.

It was IMAGE. Repeating what I said earlier, it was a blaring mistake and humorous given the tone of their 'argument' in the first place.

It appears Aslak was not the only person drinking last night.

Leonard should never ever cover: "I've Never Been To Me"

Actually, Cohen SHOULD cover "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." I can hear him doing it now. Part of his talent as a singer is his ability to make an unexpected cover work--I wouldn't have thought "Always" or "Be for Real" would join the Leonard Cohen songbook, for instance.

Another song Cohen SHOULD/SHOULDN'T do: Randy Newman's "God's Song."

Leonardine louchness

Big Lenny ought not cover in descending order or inappropriateness -
My Way - neither the daggy Farnk nor the dreggy Sid versions
Yummy yummy yummy (I've Got Love In My Tummy) - 1910 Fruitgum Company
I Think I Love You - David Cassidy (but then again...)
The Puppy Song - David Cassidy or Harry Nilsson
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Baby It's You - Promise
Da Da Da - Trio (though the Teutonic undertow might have some merit)
Cos I Luv U - Slade (mind you if done a la I'm Your Man...)
i've Never Been To Me - that horrid harradine
& I'm a teatotaller.
Cheers

Oops,
I left typos &&&&& I didn't read thoroughly enough to note that I've Never Been To Me had already been nominated.
May I replace it with another?
I'll be presumptuous with a yes.
How about..
Tusk - Fleetwood Mac?
I'd love to hear him run through Black Sabbath's Paranoid..
"Finished with my woman 'cos she could not help me with my mind..."
I'll be more detailed with my spelling, punctuation, tense, syntax & prose now that I know these things are being watched.
Cheers

Hi & Sorry,
Am I the only one in the southern hemisphere that adores Leonard's Queen Victoria? Particularly the version on Live Songs.
Cheers

"How Much Is That Doggie In The Window".. but then again, you never know what spin Leonard could put on an "uncoverable" song that would make it quite unique. He could cover it with Cindy Lauper as a duet. While we're on the subject of duets, and since we like lists, why not a list of songs he should do duets with. I'll start with this one... Cold Cold Heart, that great old Hank Williams song, with Lucinda Williams.

Aside to Rayc... as for Queen Victoria... it's one of my favourites (not sure if I've ever heard it anywhere other than Live Songs) and was covered brilliantly, deep into the night, by Kevin Solez, during one of the open mic sessions, NY 2004.

I shore whope I have awl thu punkchewashin; gramir: spehling' wird yousage>and whutehvir else all korect - wooodent want too inadvertently cet micelf uhp.

Rayx and Bb just don't try, you + you (and more) could never = me in term of being huge at this. Moreover my authenticity is genuine, while your fakes look only like cheap copies :P

LC could cover "Beautiful Mistake" ( BETTER THAN EZRA) in duet with any song track of his own voice when he was young. Or is it he could not?
