Bought my copie through eBay for only USD 10 from an honest record shop in the US. It's unpleasent that s/h to Europe is even more. But my copie is on its way from the US to Holland. It is a must have

For those that do not want to open their EP package yet - me - here are what the two record labels look like.
I received these pics from a nice chap I met in the line-up. I don't know how he knew that I would not open my package immediately.

There are many Fredericton LPs offered now on eBay, for honest prices... Of course postage to Europe varies, but it's usually double than LP itself.

Bizarrely enough, Leonard's EP showed up today in Croatian music stores...!
Apparently he is VERY popular these days when somebody decided to ship a limited 12" LP to markets where's there no special releases for Record Store Day.

Oh, wow! That's nice! I wonder if his LP has been imported to the local music store, although I don't think they have ever done anything special for RSD. And even if they, for some reason, decided to do it this year, I suppose it's long gone now.

Luckily, I can always rely on eBay, if everything else fails.

(Surely, RSD is celebrated in Norway as well, just not at this particular record store I shop at. RSD is usually in the bigger and more prominent cities of music and entertainment life, such as Oslo, Stavanger, Trondheim and Bergen etc. My city is too small for such things.

)

Initial feedback from Record Store Day shops suggests that Record Store Day 2012 on Saturday (April 21) beat all previous records.
Vinyl sales are reported to be up over 50% compared to last year and some stores reported sales increases of over 100% .
Noel Gallagher, Leonard Cohen and The Beatles top the sales rankings and record store exclusives this week accounted for 7 of the Top 10 vinyl albums for the week.
All of the Top 10 physical singles this week are Record Store Day exclusives.
Record Store Day coordinator and manager of indie store Rough Trade East Spencer Hickman said: “With vinyl sales again on the rise for the fifth year in a row indie record stores and RSD are proving to be more relevant than ever for the discerning music buyer.”
Around 230 stores took part in this year’s Record Store Day – 50 more than last year. There were around 450 exclusive releases only available in participating stores, almost double last year’s number and hundreds of events were held around the country.
A detailed analysis of the sales will be undertaken once the in-store exclusivity period ends at the end of this week.
To my big surprise, the Fredericton EP was available throughout Finland. The other release (Back in Motherland LP) wasn't - it is only a UK-item; it seems to be totally unauthorized and illegal in other countries. In spite of that, a release date of May 16 has been set by the publisher for Europe.

Released exclusively to independent music stores in honor of Record Store Day 2012, this pleasant live E.P. contains songs from a 2008 show in Fredericton, New Brunswick during the same tour that birthed Cohen's previous full-length live album, "Songs From The Road". Only 1,000 copies of this E.P., which includes renditions of "Bird On The Wire", "Who By Fire", "In My Secret Life" and several others, were produced.

Released exclusively to independent music stores in honor of Record Store Day 2012
Only 1,000 copies of this E.P.,
I am not convinced that these details are accurate. To give an example, some 10 record shops in Finland were selling the EP, and they had 2-10 copies each on the RS Day. Let's say 50 in total in this country. That would be 5 % of the whole release, which cannot be the case!
Also, my record shop client reported yesterday that the EP is now listed by the European wholesalers. Any record shop in the continent may order more copies now, and the lists do not mention any quantity limitations. My client (it's an independent record shop but does not participate in the RS Days ) ordered a bunch of EPs from its Dutch wholesaler. Let's see if they get all of them.

Thanks, Jarkko. I didn't think the number made sense either. I just posted what I found on the internet as a matter of interest.
We now have a Canadian source that reported the US available number was 3700.... and so on...
I suppose the underlying question is whether this EP would be considered a collectors item or not based on the number of copies issued?
Is there an official source that can settle the total number of copies once and for all?

Clearly the numbers available were not as limited as we first thought, given the number of markets in to which the RSD release was placed in the end and even the possibility of ongoing availability which Jarkko refers to. However, this record will always be a very special collectors' item to me - and to many other fans. This EP is a record of the first show of the 2008-10 tour. A concert we never thought would ever happen. The opening show of a tour we never thought we would ever see, let alone a tour of 246 concerts (with more to come of course). There was a period of 15 years when I would have given almost anything to have a chance to see Leonard in concert just one last time. Fredericton was the concert which made all these hopes and dreams a reality and the EP is the closest I will ever get to an official memento of my first Leonard Cohen concert for 15 years a few days later (Halifax, May 13).
So who cares about numbers? The EP will always be very special to me (thank you Arlene!)

Yes it is, brown vinyl. Very special edition.
I could not find a picture on the internet, that's why I wanted to show it on the Forum.
Thanks for your interest. So, there's nothing wrong with your computer screen
