By the way, an essential addition: Old Ideas are #1 in both Belgian charts (Flanders & Wallonia), right?

It seems that Old Ideas is 10th LC album in Norwegian top-10 (after 5 most recent studio albums, 2 lives and 2 compilations).

Funny seeing this talk of Lana Del Rey here 'battling with Leonard' for no1...... the first time I heard her song Video Games the first thing I remember thinking was how much she reminded me of Jennifer Warnes and how similar her background vocals were to the female voices that Leonard has used (when she sings at the end "and now you do".)

I've listened to her album a few times and I have to say she is clearly a very good songwriter with an incredible gift for melody. The lyrics might not be quite up to Leonard's standards (then again whose are?) but there are some great turns of phrases there and she clearly is a proper artist.

Would have been sweet to have seen Leonard at no1, but I can't see him being too concerned about chart positions  Maybe the next one will make it ;)

P.S. speaking of chart positions does anyone else think that The Faith could've become a surprise hit single if it was released around about Christmastime? I can imagine it being used in a disney film or something similar and people walking out of the cinema wanting to know who on earth was responsible for such beautiful lushness

I don't know that the themes in "The Faith" would fit into a Disney movie ("so many graves to fill"...? A bit dark for Disney!). Beautiful song, though, and, if you were not aware, it is based on the melody of an old French Canadian folk song (which Leonard sang on his Recent Songs abum in 1979). But, we're 8 years out of date for this thread!

Back to Old Ideas... Yay, Leonard!!! Awesome album, deserves to be #1, and in my mind, it is! :D
