Yes, my leg started to "necrotize" I believe they call it, but, I acted quickly, and I'm fortunate. The leg is still looking a little rough, but, it should not get worse.
I actually like spiders - though this experience is making me a little less inviting. For now anyway! I live in the deep forest, and it's filled with spiders, snakes, frogs and such... Charlotte's Web being one of my favourite books, I've long admired spiders' uniqueness. My best friend from the city refuses to enter my cabin because of the spiders.
I'm afraid when I tell her what's happened, it will convince her that she's right!
LEONARD'S BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!!
Adrian,
Man! I feel for you. My brother was bit by a Brown Recluse. He was at the Masters golf tournment in Augusta, Ga (spectating not playing). He felt this sharp pain on his knuckle...ignored it to continue watching the play..and within twenty-four hours the venom had nearly eaten to the bone...it was like acid. Very scary.
Watch out!

Check out this web site. I should warn the faint hearted there are some pretty nasty pictures on it. That should ensure everyone looking

Rather you than me Adrian it is a nasty little bugger. Is it only native to the Americas?

This is a very northerly place for what used to be a southern spider
.
As a wound specialist I have seen a few of these, and my own brother got a bite (in Florida, where they are supposed to be found!). They like to hide in dark places and have been known to get into bedding that has gone unused for a bit.
I have never seen a loss of limb, although this has been known to occur if a bad bite goes untreated.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
